What exactly does this accomplish?

DH had to go to WalMart this morning before work to pick up something and he saw a group of college-age guys STEAL a cart because they were upset. Why were they upset? Because a certain exit door was closed due to the early hour (it was 4 am and they'd been in line before DH, so he got to hear them whinge about the door being closed).

DH saw them steal the cart, wrote down their license plate # and gave it to a mgr, who said she was calling the police and thanked him for his trouble.

But really, what does stealing a shopping cart accomplish? Other than a possible large fine when you're caught, that is. How incredibly mature of them..the door was closed. They stole a cart for 'revenge'.

Unfortunately, some people just think the world revolves around them. They are probably so self-centered that they think the whole world will notice they stole a cart and that it is making some kind of statement.

Ah, to be young and stupid. I did things in HS and college that I'm not very proud of today. The benefit is that DD will have a hard time pulling the wool over my eyes.

Honestly, they didn't think through the consequences and ramifications of taking it. College kids have been doing things like that for years and go on to be contributing members of society. It's not just the "me" generation that has a strong hold on stuff like this.

BTW, I don't condone what they did.

I agree they are probably the kind of peopl who thinks the whole world revolve around them. They are probably use to getting whatever they want and have always had someone clean up there messes. I am glad you DH went out of his way to get the license plate #. Some people may say that kids will be kids but whatever happened to manners and decentcy.

Haven't you heard? Shopping carts are cool!

I mean, how awesome is it to have a shopping cart in your lawn or in your house...you are cool stuff if you have one of those things...oh yeah... :lmao: ...heh.

Well, DH has worked in loss prevention before, so he doesn't think twice when it comes to alerting stores to situations like this. He's been on the other side of that door and would want somebody to tell HIM if they'd seen somebody taking a cart or whatever.

I think having worked in the retail field for so long has made him one of the best customers a cashier/store employee can have. He's always patient, incredibly courteous and willing to work with them to get what he needs.

How do you steal a cart and drive away in a car?
