We'll be in Orlando for only 5 days this summer. I've got my plans and agenda all set, but we just decided to add in a little road trip. My aunt and uncle (in thier late eighties) live down in Boynton Beach so we'll be making a drive to see them. I haven't seen them in probably 15 years, and they've never met our children. They're also in failing health, so the urgency for me to see them is high. They are unable to travel, so we will drive to thier home, down in the morning, and back later the same day. Magic Kingdom is scheduled for the next day, so I don't want to spend the night anywhere.
Our kids are 8 & 6, and traveling another 3 hours in the car won't phase them. However, is there anything in that area, or on the way to that area that we should see? I used to work for NASA, so the Cape doesn't appeal to me. (Been there, done that...although it is really impressive!) Anything along the turnpike? Lake Okeechobee? I imagine we'll only spend a couple hours with my aunt & uncle because of thier health issues, and aside from the 6 hours in the car, we should have some free time that day.
Any suggestions???
Thanks!
