What else to do when it rains?

We're headed to Disneyland on Friday staying through Wednesday with our 1YO and 3YO. We can definitely do a few days in the park regardless of the weather, but what else is there to do in the area (max 2 hour drive) with toddlers that is indoors for the times it is a real downpour? I'm so wishing we had booked at a Disney hotel now to be a bit closer to things, we're at the Castle Inn.

Also, any tips specifically for toddlers in the rain and extras to pack to the park each day? Thanks!

The Castle Inn is pretty close, your walk won't be that much farther than if you were at the Disneyland Hotel, so don't worry too much. I have never stayed there, but I have walked past it and it is close.

I can't think of anything nearby that is indoors. San Diego has so much but a lot of it is outside. They have some nice museums in Balboa Park if you were willing to drive down there for the day. I think you can buy a museum combo ticket if you are going to all of them. La Jolla has an aquarium, but I have never been there.

Maybe book a character meal at one of the hotels on one of your off days so that you can just stay inside and really take your time (and eat your money's worth!). When in the park take advantage of the Animation building in DCA and don't forget your ponchos and a good small super shami to dry stuff with.

Good luck!

We are the same as you....
I am planning for rain most of the day Staurday. I was thinking we would do California adventure. We were going to spend time doing the shows.Spend lots of time in animators, turtle talk with crush,Disney playhouse, Aladdin,Muppets. We also figured we could head of to the GCH and sit by the fire... I figured that will take a big chunk out of the day.
We bought rain boots and jackets for the kids.Prepared for the worst but hoping for the best.

As another poster said, Castle Inn is super close to the entrance, so don't worry about it!
I really like the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. Lots of great exhibits, kid friendly, and close to DL!

A second vote for this. One of my favorite places. And Bubba Gumps is right next to it!
