We have 22 days to go......This is me- :cheer2: :woohoo:

This is my DS11 :rolleyes1  and the occasional :smooth: and I suspect the last look is just to humor me.

I pulled out the Pirate movies and Haunted. What else can I do to get my son excited? Don't get me wrong..he is a great kid. He does his chores. Cleans his room and doesn't argue. ( to much lol) BUT......he is so blase about this trip. It's driving me crazy!

And what is this world coming to when an 11 year old isn't jumping up and down begging to go to Disney World?

Hah! he's being a typical pre-teen. The more excited you get, the less enchanted he gets. He probably does want to go, but admitting that would mean joining...the Dark Side :p Don't let him get you down. He'll perk up when he gets there, but don't be too surprised if he doesn't show it. :confused3

My older kids are not that excited :confused3 but I keep pulling up pics and trip reports from the boards and they seem to be getting more in the mood...
I cant imagine having to pump somebody up to go to DISNEY :woohoo: :yay:
Kids are weird !!!!

Hi Shell...
IMO: Drop by the nearest Disney store and get some Disney Dollars... For everytime he does something great... give him a Disney buck.... This might be a way to perk him up.... he might look forward to spending it on whatever he wants...
You can also show him the map on the computer to one of the parks and let him pick out what rides he wants to go on...Do the same w/ a restaurant. I think a great way to get the kids excited is to let them be part of the planning.

I hope this helped... and no matter what I HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!

:cheer2:

Im going through the same thing with my ds14. I just keep telling myself that deep down he really is excited and that one day when our sons are all grown up they will realize how cool mom is! :thumbsup2

Thanks guys. I do talk about the trip a lot with him and I LOVE the idea of getting disney dollars. I think I will do that one for sure. When I started planning I asked him about where he wanted to eat and he only cared about going to Sci-fi...(which I booked)

Last night I told him "We have 20 days to go!!! Tomorrow we're in the teens!" he comes over to the computer to look at my count down thing and he says "Cool I can hardly wait to go the the water parks" I then asked if that was all he wants to do there and he said " No mom, I'm excited" and then he gave me a big grin, rubbed the top of my head and waked away.

So here is what I took from that......he's excited just not as much as I am but thinks I'm a little girl when it comes to Disney. Which is true! hehe

Anyway, We had a nice talk about the things we have never done before. He really wants to find the paintbrush at Tom sawyers Island. I really want to have the tea at the GF. He wants to go to Disney Quest and Typhoon Lagoon and ride Rockin Roller Coaster. Both of us want to over come our fear of ToT.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I feel like this is going to be a great trip .......

I feel your pain. I'm in the same boat except that my DS is only almost 6 - he's supposed to be jumping for joy but he almost scowls at me when I mention the trip. I think he's had too much "if you don't... you won't get to go to WDW" discipline (DH's tactic of choice which always rubs me wrong) - now it is a looming fear. Makes me sad that he's not as excited as I am. He's never been so maybe he just doesn't know what he's in for yet.
