Hello to all, we are planning on surprising our DD (will be 8) and going back to WDW in early December. Right now we have our home resort booked (Saratoga) but I am hoping at the 7 month mark to get into another DVC resort.

We have never been during the holidays.

What are your favorites to stay at during holidays and why?

As of today, our options are pretty much any but Grand Floridian - of course (unless we shift to later in December and I don't do well in heavy crowds)

I am leaning toward Boulder Ridge or Beach Club, but I've also seen the most on their decorations, we haven't ruled any out.

Thanks for your input! Looking forward to seeing/hearing what your experience has been.

BRV and BCV are my two first choices for December, but both may be challenging to switch to at 7 months.

I will call it VWL until the end, lol, but the lodge is really beautiful that time of the year. Also, you are only a boat ride away from the monorail resorts that are beautiful also.

This is why it is a smidge ahead of Beach Club, plus going in December, the fireplace a lobby seem so cozy.

I really want us to be immersed in Christmas while we are there, it seems like outside of GF, VWK/BVR & BCV are the most decorated? But again, I am going on what I have seen and not from experience.

DW and I have been every year the 2nd week of Dec since '93.
We find we like:
AKV-J
BCV/BWV area
VWL
Monorail line
OKW/SSR
We have changed out of our HR 95% of the time, depending upon what we are doing that particular stay.
Some options we have found that are outside the ordinary:
BWV, BC, YC, Swan and Dolphin all in one afternoon stroll around the lake.
You can do the monorail tour of resorts in about 2 hours if you do not linger, but at GF they have a band playing in the lobby that is a lot of fun to set and listen too.
At FWC, they have evening horse/buggy rides that give you a tour of the campsites. The campers put up some awesome decorations.

I would also consider taking a bike ride at FW during December. Campers know how to decorate! Even during daylight, some displays are amazing!

Does the "bush music" still play the Mannheim Steamroller Christmas music at Christmas? This was one reason why BC was my favorite.

Normally the availability at 7 months during early December(first 2 weeks) is poor, because people book the units. Also early December is a very high demand time. This goes for studios and 2 br. Currently only a few resorts has availability in 1Br.
So if you have a wish for a studio or 2br at other places than ssr and Okw you might be out of luck. I think your best bet would be to keep the ssr ressi.

Getting a ressi in early December is one of the reasons why people say:'buy where you want to stay"

As of this morning there is a 1br availability in all resorts for the time we are going except GF. I understand that some may go away (which is why we have Saratoga as back up). We are trying as many of the resorts as we can to see what we like and what don't.

I would try out the new Cooper Creek resort. You'll get a room right in the main lodge. Seems like it would be perfect for Christmas, and probably impossible to get once the resort is sold out.

(You'll have to wait for April 26th to book it though.)

However, depending on sales, inventory for points reservations will be limited at Copper Creek and I'd suspect that the new owners there will want to book their home resort for their first holiday stay.

I'd make a list of the resorts that most interest you and put them in order. Then let availability be the deciding factor. You may not get your first choice, or your second - or any of them (which is why you have a backup), but putting a preference list together will let you juist work down the list.

Yes but if the OP wishes to go early dec, OP has to wait a few days until the 7 months windows opens or start walking.

Allegedly, they've already sold through the Week 49s.

Yes, but only for the studios included in the first declaration. Per Wil Lovato (@wdrl), that would only be 4 studios for that week given the 35% limit and the small number of studios declared already. However if DVD continues to sell out that week (in regard to fixed weeks) it does not bode well for future availability for non-CCV owners or maybe even for owners, a la VGF, in early December.

realistically first week of December is generally a home resort week due to lack of 7 months availability
