What does your camera NOT have that you wish it HAD?

For me, it's a GRID.

I sure miss having one. My landscapes are just a *wee bit* off without it, and I lost the simple editing program that I could easily fix them on when my laptop died.

The 510 does have a couple of grids including the rule of thirds grid.

A focus motor in the body. My D60 doesn't have it and while I am a-okay not having one...it would be nice. One day I'll upgrade to the D90 and not have to worry about it but for now, manual focusing is my new best friend.

I wish my camera had the ISO # somewhere all the time rather than having to look it up. I'm always forgetting to change it back.
My new camera(D80) has the grid lines in the viewfinder, with an option to turn them off, my D50 didn't. I like it, it does help me keep my horizons straighter

I have to agree with this one. I have a D40 and am hoping to soon upgrade to the D90 or D300. I have held off buying a nifty fifty for that reason. I decided to just wait for the fifty till I decide which body I am going to order.

I would agree, with the D40 I probably wouldn't have purchased the 50mm, although with the D60 there is an "in-focus" light in the viewfinder that basically tells you whether you are in or out of focus, so I got it with the D60. I will probably still get the 30mm because while I can manually focus pretty well in sunlight...focusing in low-light and focusing quickly is something I still need to practice.

I wish mine had a feature that said "Hey dummy, don't forget you were using a custom white balance setting last night, so if you don't change it this morning, all your shots are going to be screwed up until you realize you need to reset the WB." That's why I'm now in the habit of doing the 2-finger reset on my Nikon at the beginning of each day to clear out any crazy settings I might have had from the night before.

That feature is called "shoot in Raw".

I kind of wish my camera has an HDMI output, even though I don't have any HDMI display devices in the house and have never been in a situation where I could have used it. But it seems like it would be a nice thing to have in the rare time when it was an option.

One of those 3" 640x480 LCD screens might be nice, too.

I really can't complain, the D90 is pretty fancy. It's really pushed me out of my comfort zone, I haven't shot in Auto modes since getting it. I admit sometimes I miss the "Child Mode" that was on the D40, so easy to pick up and snap without thinking but if I still had it I wouldn't know all that I do now so it's not a bad thing.
I'd like to able to tweak my color a little more. Admittedly it has way more options then the D40 did but it is also way more color intense too making it hard to choose a happy medium considering the range of skin tone and hair color of my three main subjects. (seriously I don't know another family with full sibs who are so different in coloring!) I know, I know, shoot RAW, it's just not something I have the patience for atm. Maybe someday I'll take an editing class and it will click like the camera did.

The new 50/1.4G AF-S will auto focus with the D40/D60 cameras. Although it is in the same price range as the Sigma- not the old 50/1.8 AF.

mine has that, only i call it my husband
i wish mine had more mp, faster speed, etc etc and said "50d" on it instead of "rebel xt"

I always want more dynamic range, a larger colorspace, lower noise, higher resolution, etc. As for feautures, I stick with writing about those that neither my current or pre-ordered camera has but which are in other cameras or at least seem practical.

1) A built in horizon/level. I love the one on the D3.
2) A GPS. It would make geotagging much easier.
3) Wifi. It's available with an overpriced grip, but I'm not. Buyging that.
4) 3G. Why can't I upload my pics via the cell phone network?
5) A stablizied sensor. I prefer lens stabilization when it is available, but I'd much rather have both.
6) HD LiveView over HDMI. The 5Dm2 may have this, but I don't think so. 640x480 isn't good enough for manually focusing while shooting HD.
7) A mirror lockup button.
8) A built in arca-swiss tripod bracket...preferably L shaped. If not that, at least design the camera so that a more streamlined L bracket can be made for it.
9) A clock that adjusts for daylight savings time (or better, just end DST). With a GPS, I want the clock to autoset to local time.
10) Eye control focus point selection. I had this 10 years ago on a film camera and it worked. Why not on a DSLR?
11) A built in intervelometer. Why must I use a remote cable when I want to shoot an automatic series of shots?
