As I stated in other posts, we are doing our research to determine whether DVC is right for us....so now I'm reading up on the point charts for cruises and other Disney Collection resorts. What does the following statement actually mean? (It is from the 2011 point chart for the 3 night Bahamas Cruise)

"Members cannot book and travel on Disney Collection vacations (excluding Disneyland Resort hotels in California) within the last 4 months of their use year."

Does that mean that if you have a Dec. UY, you can't take a cruise in Nov.? I'm so confused:rolleyes1

TIA for all the help...I wouldn't know what to do w/o Disboards!!

It means that you can't make any last minute reservations for cruises, non-DVC hotels etc. For example, if you have a Dec. UY you need to book a cruise prior to July31st if you are going on it Aug 1-Nov 30th. You still are able to take a cruise in the last 4 months of the UY.

The "rule of 4" as it's referred to does not apply to DVC resorts or to the hotels at Disneyland.

The "rule of 4" refers to exchanges, and when you "trade" into the Disney Collection, that is what you are doing. They need time to recoup your trade, so that's why they don't let you call and reserve during the last 4 months of your use year, but you can still travel then as long as you book ahead of that.
