What does the return to Rope Drop mean for early risers?

Do you mean that when you scan your MagicBand, phone, or physical card that they would know that you are a resort guest? I see a lot of confusion and frustration in that situation.

That's what they did with EMH. Didn't seem to cause confusion then.

How did Extra Magic Hours work? Did they scan your key/magicband/under skin implant (joking on that one) at the entry and only those with resort stays could enter?

Yes. If your Magic Band/Card (phones weren't an option at the time) didn't light up that you were a resort guest, you were not allowed into the ride queue. I don't know about admission for morning EMH - when I used it, I never saw anyone not a resort guest try to access them.

I wasn’t clear, but I was referring to this transition period. Right now they’ve been letting everyone in and everyone gets to ride at the same time whether it is with an official rope drop or just dwindling into the park in the morning.

You are correct, when everyone knew that EMH mornings were only for resort guests, it worked just fine. Same in the evening. Problem is, for the last year and a half almost, all guests have been able to access the parks early and ride the attractions early.

I think there will be confusion when they implement the 30 minute early time for resort guests. I’m actually looking forward to when they do implement it.

I suspect a lot of signs, info on the app and website, and yes, checking for resort guests. They could easily have a section marked as "resort guests only" and even have CMs verifying as people come out of security.

I do suspect it is part of the transition plan for the early entry for the 50th and I assume they will do it just like before and scan the bands once at certain points to gain further access or they could do separate tapstile lines, guess we'll all just have to wait and see.
