What does the D mean in front of each name...

If Mrs. Tex found out that it meant "Disney", as in my "Disney Wife", then whoever my DW might be is in visit from my very gentle and nonviolent sweet little Michigan farm girl. They'd never find the bodies.

I said "bodies", because the other one would be mine.

One day my DH was reading over my shoulder and wanted to know who the poster was calling a ---- head. I laughed so hard and couldn't convince him it meant dear husband. :rotfl2: I tried to think of a non-vulgar way to type that as to not offend anyone so I hope that was okay. Sorry if it did offend, but it was too funny not to share.

As God as my witness I thought turkeys could fly,....and D was for Disney. :confused3

I assume (and like) that it means Disney (like DH for Disney Husband) but I read somewhere that the D does not stand for Disney.....Not that it will change my mind when reading..:laughing:But what does the D stand for?

:teacher:

Many thanks!
I say "Dear" mentally, but some people say "Disney", so it's a personal opinion.:)

I always thought it was Disney. That's my story and I'm stickin to it.

I looked it up once on the DIS Board. I think it said Dear or Disney.

We always go with Disney.

Always darling, never diabolical, at least when I'm reading the boards.:)
But, I'm starting to like the idea of a "Disney" husband. Where can I get one?

Using the D as Disney makes me think of a separate husband...

"Bye, honey, I'm going to meet up with my Disney Hubby, and my well behave Disney children! Keep the house clean while I'm gone!" Teehee.

Hmm.. I wonder what my Disney hubby looks like?

Loved it !

If this was Facebook, I would "like" this post. I always read it as dear, but it's interesting that others are reading it differently. Lost in translation...

The "d" abbreviations are not just used on this website. It is not a Disney thing.

We used to refer to d***heads as designated hitter. :rotfl:

You and I should be friends. I love WKRP. :flower3:

This is just my opinion, but I personally think all of the abbreviations are absolutely stupid. I don't have the time to decipher some lame code, yet sometimes I get sucked in to this vortex of lazy typing. I'd much rather type a shorter version of a name. Example:
BTMRR = STUPID
Big Thunder = Appropriate
IASM = LAME
Small World = More Realistic
MNSSHP = REALLY?
Oh, and the all time, mos pathetic one (besides anything that begins with the "D")
WWTBAMPI

OCTJMOICBW
(Of course that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.)

I never understood why people don't just write son or husband. Do you refer o your child as "dear daughter" or "Disney son". Just weird!

The guy I live with could be my boyfriend, but geez, we are over forty! We are not married, so he is my partner. But I don't call him "dear partner".

Maybe I'm weird, but I've never called it Big Thunder in my life, it was always Thunder Mountain. I agree on the acronyms though, but I'm also guilty of using them from time to time. :goodvibes

Hmm, I've always thought the D was for Disney, being that this is a Disney related site, but Dear works fine too.

For people who spend a lot of time on message boards, it's just a way to type less. The D is there, not because we always refer to our family as "dear", but because one letter abbreviations are less obvious. This is something that started years and years ago, and not on this board.
