Our US Air flight leaves at 7:56 AM landing in Orlando a little over 2 hours later. The meal was listed as snack/brunch. Does anyone know what this may consist of? Is it actually a meal, or the proverbial bag of peanuts? Just wanting to know if we should eat a good breakfast before leaving for the airport. Thanks.

I suggest eating a good breakfast before getting on the plane. OR bringing snax/drinks with you.

The USAIR flights we've taken it included 3-4 crackers with some soft cheese to spread on it, a wrapped chocolae mint, and usually one other small bag of something (like peanuts) I seem to remember getting this whether it was breakfast time or not. It really is a snack and nowhere near a meal - By the way we were on the USAIR Metro Jet don't know if for sure that's the same as you're on or not.

On our Pittsburgh-Orlando 9:30 flight in May, we had a cheese danish, yogurt (peach or berry I think), package of raisins. There are lots of places in the food court if you want to pick up something else. No metrojet out of Pittsburgh (we have to pay the high prices  )

I wouldn't call 136 out of pit to mco high! I have had great fares these past 3 yrs to mco! I have paid no higher than 151! I did get a tkt for 168 then the fare went down so I just got the difference back! not bad! last feb I paid 129!

the meals will range from danish to a bagel to yogurt and granola and/or an apple. if you want to be sure of getting what you will like then I suggest ordering a special meal. I personally recommend the fruit plates. these are always good! you can order them even if its a snack. you will get a nice tray of cut fruit(varies in season) and something like jelly beans or raisins and crackers with it. the last flight it was cut melon, grapes, pineapple, apple, orange slices and a nutrigrain twist bar. anothert time it was cut melon, pineapple, orange slices and fruit dip with crackers.

Beverly,

In general, we do pay way more. On a business trip to Hartford last September, my ticket was over $900 (weekdays, no Saturday night), while another person flew on Metrojet from Baltimore for around $200 (same dates). The price difference to Orlando isn't as big because there is competition between the airlines for the vacation traveler.

Metrojet does not penalize for not having a Saturday night stayover (I don't believe AirTran does either), where USAir out of Pittsburgh rips the business travelers who do not stay over the Saturday night.

USAir will not bring Metrojet into Pittsburgh because there is no real competition, where Baltimore has big competition from SouthWest.

When we flew Pittsburg to Orlando we were expecting peanuts but got a sack lunch - cold chicken sand., carrots with ranch dip, and a cookie. Our flight had listed "snack/brunch" also. Flight was just over two hours. Since I wasn't expecting food, I hadn't special requested anything (if I had ordered the kid's meal it would have been PB&J I think) - my son wouldn't eat any of his regular meal.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I think we'd better plan on eating a good breakfast before we go. When DH gets hungry he is like an angry bear. ;)

metrojet is (owned by) usair. and there are a lot of internet fares available for the business traveler. in fact I got one on the internet leaving on a monday and returning on wed to mco from pit. no sat night stay there. it was 179 round trip. and I got a ny one for 129 round trip going on a tues return on a thursday. they have no call here for metrojet. they have a bigger clientel for business travelers and use the bigger aircrafts for it thus generating more revenue. they only wanted metrojet on designated routes. I remember the day it was implemented. in fact I got to take an inaugeral flight on one!

but getting back to the meal thing go ahead and order a special meal anyways at least then you will know what you are getting. and you can also call the 1-800-428-4322 nbr as well and they can give you a list of items in the meals too. they can pull up the menu and tell you what is on your flight.
