Hey all,

I am one of those weird people who actually didn't mind Stitch's Great Escape. Now with it's seasonal operation schedule, only opening for peak crowds and holidays... I am wondering something. How much of a crowd would it take for Disney to decide to open the attraction? is it something they would open on a whim? Is there any method or rhyme or reason to this?

I am headed down that way in August and I'll be there for most of the month and I am just wondering if there is any chance the crowds will be high enough to potentially warrant Stitch's Great Escape to open...

Thoughts?

Hopefully, it can't be reopened. One of my least favorite attractions. Hopefully they an come up with a new attraction to take that prime realestate. I don't know that wreck it Ralph is the answer or if that is even being considered any more. Seems like its time for a complete remake instead of a minor remodel.

You're too late to the game here.
If you didn't want it closed you should have been doing something about it prior to January when it closed for good.
I didn't have ill will towards it but it wasn't a must like Alien Encounter so I only did it a couple times.
What they should do is bring back Alien Encounter :)

I liked the Stitch meet and greet a lot. I'm hoping they move him, though, and put a Wreck It Ralph ride in instead.

I consulted with the expert on Disney Rumors and News and @rteetz confirms Stitch’s Great Escape is classified by Disney as being a “seasonal” attraction.

It’s still highly doubtful that Stitch returns but it is considered seasonal for now.

It’s expected the ride will soon be removed and something new added.

Last August it was open briefly. I went on it for my first and last time. It's truly terrible. They could reopen it again, but I highly doubt it will happen

What should they have done about it? I wasn't aware that users on the Disboards have the power to influence Disney's operational decisions.

I'm disappointed at the news that it's been turned into a meet and greet, less because I liked the attraction than because that makes me worry they don't plan to redevelop the space in a meaningful way. Hopefully I'm wrong. Something of interest to note is that the last several attractions in that space have been re-skins of the same basic set-up--Stitch's Great Escape is a really obvious re-skin of Alien Encounter, but even before that (if I'm correct about what I've read elsewhere on the internet; it was before my time) the previous attraction had the same circular seating arrangement. The attraction has changed several times, but they haven't torn the whole thing out and started fresh in decades.

Really? Guests are what drives Disney.
They could have made their voice heard.
Sent a letter.
Started a petition.
It certainly worked in 2003 when COP was seasonal and slated to close.
It also worked to bring back Captain EO for a tribute run.
Disney is looking to make money. If they don't keep their guests happy that won't happen.
Clearly you've never witness the power of coming together for a cause.

I'm one who loved Stitch and am very sad to see it go. It needed a refresh, but I would have loved to see it stay. I'm hoping against hope they reopen it for part of the summer holiday.

I just think it's odd that your reaction to someone asking about an attraction they like is to blame them for it closing. That's all. Maybe people could have gotten a petition together, but I don't think it's especially helpful in this context to jump in and tell someone that they're personally to blame if a large corporation doesn't follow their preferences.

I'm not going to argue this further. This isn't worth an argument; I was just pointing out that I don't think your comment was helpful.

To be fair - it doesn't always work - see the collective uproar over the new parking fees that did not do any good at all. I think it's kind of wierd to blame a person for not getting a company to change their plans/policies. I really don't think we have that much power that often, might work a few times but overall Disney is going to do what makes them the most money and to blame a person for the companies decisions seems a bit off to me.

Because the OP’s question has been answered and this board focuses on planning versus activism, closing.
