what does it mean to transfer???

You can take points in your account for any particular use year and transfer them to another member so he can use them or vice versa.

I understand that concept, but if you can't get reimbursed, is the idea that you'll hopefully get a trade back at some later date?

Or is it just like donation or charity?

if you abide by the rules, yes.

9.Club Members are expressly prohibited from receiving compensation for engaging in any Transfer activity.

(but sometimes people don't abide by the rules...)

I have a question, I've only rented out a handful of points once, a long time ago, so I'd like to ask something about the new transfer rules.

Is the one time transfer per UY to members only or to both members and non members? Or can one still "rent out" to non members more than once a year?

TIA

"renting" has nothing to do with "transferring." they are not synonyms.

you can "rent" to members or nonmembers - in both cases, the owner still retains control of the reservation until check-in. you can rent as many times as you have pts and renters, but if you rent too many times in one year (roughly 20), you may get a rude letter from DVC (it would be defined as "commercial renting" which is a no-no.)

"transfers" are only between owners. (nonmembers can't use pts at all - they can't even talk to MS.) in a "transfer", the original owner gives up the pts completely and the other owner can use them to make reservations at their discretion. you get one transfer per year, either in or out.
