What Does Everyone Do Their First Night?

Last year we didn't arrive until late (flight delays :sad2:) so we just had dinner and went to our room.

This year we are scheduled to arrive early, but I think we'll just hang at the pool, staying at BWI for the first time and my dds are really excited about the pool/slide (ok I am also :rotfl: ). Then doing a ps for dinner somewhere in Epcot, maybe Akerhaus (sp?) since they will have the princess dinners by then. Maybe mom getting a few beers from a couple Epcot countries.

We can't wait to hit one of the parks, usually EPCOT, a walk around the World Showcase, dinner at Chef de France, and Illuminations are great ways to start the trip! Then it is right back to the resort where we fall exhausted into bed because, of course, we didn't sleep much the night before in anticipation!!!!

On the first afternoon/evening at the World, we go straight to AK after we check in. The first attraction we hit is FOTLK. When the King hits that first baratone note, I get immediate goosebumps and I know I am back in WDW. After that we do the Safari, which is great in the late afternoon, then watch the parade in Africa and then walk through the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail until the park closes.

We also have a traditional pattern our first afternoon in MK. We usually swim away the morning and head over to the MK around 2:30. We take the train to Frontierland and work our way through BTMR, Splash Mt., and POTC, and the rest of adventureland (except Jungle Cruise). We have dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern. After dinner, we go to the Haunted Mansion and then back down to Jungle Cruise, which I personnal love a dusk. Then we grab some icecream on Mainstreet and watch the fireworks.

I know, crazy. But that's what we do.

This year we are driving (about 14-15 hours) and will probably arrive (WL)about 8AM-9AM. We will be tired and hungry so we'll eat at Roaring Forks, get our mugs and either chill by the pool or head to Typhoon Lagoon for a few hours. Then it's back to the resort, nap and shower before our PS at 7PM at Ohana's. Then back to WL (after the fireworks) and a good night's sleep before hitting MK in the morning.

Heh heh, wouldn't YOU like to know?!

If we arrive early, we head to the parks. If we have a late arrival, we usally don't go to the parks the first day. We have dinner at Chef Mickey's at the CR. Excellent dinner and the kids are so excited to see the characters. A great way to start your vacation!

We don't have a routine since we've never been to WDW.

We will be taking the redeye from Oregon and arriving in Orlando around 9:30am. I'm sure the kids will sleep on the plane, but my wife and I will probably be exhausted. So we have zero plans for the first day. If we are able to get a decent nap and are feeling up for it, we may hit MK for part of the evening. But we plan on taking it easy and getting to bed early since the next 8 days will be very tiring.

I'm so excited for our first day! DD and I will be driving, so if I keep my eyes on the prize and drive all 11 hours or so without stopping too long at each rest stop, we will check into Pop and then head over to GF for My Disney Girl's Perfectly Princess Tea! This is a total surprise for DD who will turn 5 the very next day. It's too bad the tea is not offered on her actual birthday, but I think she'll be thrilled nonetheless.

After that, I'm going straight to bed for a nice long nap. (I hope. It will be too tempting to go to MK while we are "right there" at the GF. I hope we can both resist the temptation.) We will then have dinner at Epcot (the Japanese Steakhouse whose name I can't recall and won't even try to spell), mosey around that park for a bit, and head home so we can get up bright and early for her birthday breakfast at CRT!

I'm really enjoying the fact that both of us have APs so we don't feel like we're using "a day" just popping into Epcot for dinner.

We hit Casey's Corner for a hot dog and fries! It's always at the top of DH's must do list. It's almost always our 1st meal at the Mouse. We sit outside, listen to the piano player, watch the birds (and people feeding them despite the signs not to), people watch and take in the Disney sights and be thankful that we are there.

We're be getting in around noon and plan on going to MGM no later than 3:00. The kids will be anxious to do the parks, but I want to wait to go to MK the next morning.

I thought seeing Fantasmic that first evening will get us all in the Disney spirit!
