Hi Gang

Just wondering what everyone does on your first night at the resort. We would get there in the afternoon after the flight from Canada. I have some ideas on what we are going to do for our first "short" day but I wanted to hear what you guys do too.

Andy

I usually head over the the ESPN club at the BW.

We usually fly out late Friday night so by the time we get in its past bed time.

Since we usually don't have tickets for the day we arrive, we go to DTD. The kids enjoy exploring the Word of Disney and Lego Stores. You might also try to book a character meal. I may try to book at the Poly during Wishes for our first night next time. I heard you can see it and the music is piped in.

Great question!

We usually head for the pool, then jacuzzi, then a good night's sleep

Hi there!

We usually go to DTD. It helps set the mood and gives you the feeling that you really are "at Disney". It's a nice transition from our regular lives.

That being said, it is also fun to just "hang out" at the hotel and poke around. Especially if the hotel is new to you. I'm sure this is what we'll do this year because we are driving straight down and I know we'll just be glad to get out of the car! Also because we are staying at the WL for the first time and I would really like to check it all out!!! :earsgirl:

Well, we have a cruise first & should get off by 8am or so and then plan to head on over to the poly. We actually plan to make it a relaxing resort day. Some swimming in the volcano pool with the kids, maybe order pizza delivery so we don't have to get prettied up for a restaurant, and then to the beach for the fireworks. Then, early to bed so we can get over to MK first thing for our hopeful brkfst at Cindy's castle! :cool1:

We'll be arriving by about 10:30ish a.m. and I'm certain we won't be getting much sleep if any the night before. I'm planning on resting by a quiet pool (POR) with a light lunch then back to the room for a short nap before heading to MK @ 7 for some dinner and our 1st experience seeing Spectromagic and Wishes. Probably not going to do any other attractions that evening, just want to capture the "Magic" right off the start ! :wizard: :cloud9:

Check out and explore the hotel, this time SOG and usually a swim. This year head to the Boardwalk and get in early for a good night's sleep.

We usually get in about 5-6 pm, not enough time to do a park and burn a day of passes. Its become a tradition of ours to go to Chef Mickey's for dinner, then just ride the monorail around. By then we're tired enough for bed and a fresh start for the next day!

We like to take and early flight, arrive around noon then head to MGM, do some rides, and then the Fantasmic Dinner Package at Hollywood and Vine. We love starting the vacation off with the Fantasmic show, puts us all in the "Disney" frame of mind. :Pinkbounc

This year we'll get to Orlando, rent a car and check in at SOG. Then we'll walk over to the Poly and catch the water parade. Thats a good way to start our trip.

We arrive early morning every trip, 8-8:30am most of the time so we turn in earlier the first night. The one thing we do every trip is head over to the Contemporary Resort and head to the 4th floor to the Outer Rim for a few appetizers and a bottle of wine while looking at Bay Lake.

Obviously it depends on your passes, last year we had APs, so no worries about "wasting" a day - so we went to Magic Kingdom.

bearing in mind we had woken up at 4am in the UK, flown to the USA, found POR and settled in, and where then walking up Main Street about 7pm Orlando time, it was a pretty amazing experience - I couldn't believe we were really there. We didnt' do any rides, just wandered up Main Street and went to columbia harbour house for dinner (our favorite) and soaked up the atmosphere. It was very magical.

Early flight out of Burlington so everyone's pretty tired. We unpack, grab some lunch, walk the grounds then head over to DTD. We may enjoy the pools or rent the bikes. We try to make it a relaxing day because we know that the rest of the time during our stay we'll be going  doing all the Disney sites!

We try to do a character meal, usually Chef Mickey's and then DTD depending upon how tired we are. Alot of it depends upon when we arrive and how early we were up.

If we're at MCO before 10 am it's straight to the parks and we treat is as just another day, if much later than that, we're off the Boardwalk before PM then perhaps we'll burn a Plus at PI that night.

For our last trip we went to MGM to purchase our park hopper passes then headed to Downtown Disney to eat at the Rainforest Cafe.
We turned in rather early to get a early start the next day.
