What does Disney's travel insurance cover?

I booked the 7/4 package and ended up with the trip insurance in the package. Long story, but I had basically finished booking the package with a CM when my cell phone call got cut off. When I called later to try to find my reservation, I was so happy they found it (I didn't have a confirmation number yet) and I didn't have to go through the whole process again that I forgot to tell them to take off the insurance.

So we are stuck with this insurance. So what does it cover?

Hi there,
You should receive a copy of the policy when they send your documents. If it hasn't changed much since I last bought it - it covers the cancellation fees if you have to cancel your trip because of an illness/injury that would prevent you or someone in your party from travelling. Also covers cancellation due to a death in the family. There may be some travel delay coverage also. It DOES NOT cover weather or "acts of God" kind of things. Still, considering with Disney you only have to pay for the adults and kids (if you have them) are included free - it's not such a bad deal - also considering that WDW vacations are never cheap, I think the cost is a reasonable amount for the insurance. I believe you would have to file a claim and be reimbursed for the charges but not absolutely sure about that. I've had to file a claim with a different travel company for a family member and it did include a section for the doctor to fill out saying she couldn't travel, so people can't just say "I'm sick" and not go on a trip.

Have a great time on your trip.

If I make a change to my reservation (we are thinking of switching to AKL from POP) more than 45 days out, would I lose the insurance? Or do modifications not count?

When I asked about the insurance, the CM said weather was included. I specifically asked about weather because I am still worried about having snow days and not being able to leave.

I was also told that you could make changes if within 45 days and be okay if your package costs more than before. The CM said if you go down in cost for the package, it's a $50 charge.

We all know though that CMs give wrong answers so take both of these answers as possibly being wrong.
