Does that make it not a good view or will we care ? Never been on a Disney cruise and don't want to get a balcony and have it be a crappy waste of money :)

a white wall means that there is a solid wall about 3ft high from the base of the floor. Other balcony rooms have plexy glass. A disadvantage is that your eyes will have to bew about that 3 ft high to see downward. If you spend a lot of time on the balcony you can see over, just not down.

A balcony with a white wall is usually found in balcony cabins at both the front and the back of a ship; the white wall replaces the more typical clear outside wall of a balcony. The white wall means you can't see the exterior scenery while seated on one of the chairs or lounges on the balcony. Depending on your height, you may have to stand up to see over the balcony railing and get a good view.

On the Dream and Fantasy, a white wall is a solid metal portion that covers only the bottom part of the verandah, with the upper part clear plexiglass. On the Magic and Wonder, the entire wall is solid metal, and you have to stand up to see the ocean.

Depends on the ship. On the Fantasy it looks like this:

Anyone got the Magic's?

I got it for my Mom & Dad because it was a real balcony vs Navigator's and much cheaper than clear. Mom likes to sit on the deck and read a book with a cup of tea so I didn't think she would mind.

I loved our Stateroom 10662 on The Dream this past August. Aft part of the ship and we had 4 chairs 2 was lounge chairs so THAT'S A PLUS from the side clear glass staterooms. And when the ships backs in to dock AWESOME then when its leaving a little sad cause you leaving paradise. I posted some pics of it somewhere under my posts

This is what I just booked.

Stateroom:
Room #5052
Category 04E - Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

View:
Oversized Private Verandah

As long as we can see even if we have to be at the rail I am happy :) I just don't want to have to lean out to see around a wall :)

AND WE HAD TWO OTHER CHAIRS AND TABLE ON THE DECK. SO IT WAS AWESOME PLUS THE OVER COVER WAS HUGE.

I don't think that obstructs the view much at all. But you might request a balcony without the feet. pirate:

So snarky

Not snarky, just pointing out that maybe we should actually read people's posts before responding. If it wasn't a misread, why would you post a link to a room she didn't ask about?

Yeah, gotta watch out for the feet. Some of the verandahs on the Magic and Wonder have the Plexiglas walls instead of the solid white wall. It depends on the category. The ones near mid-ship have the Plexiglas so you can see the ocean while sitting on the sofa or bed inside your stateroom.

We have never been on a DCL cruise but my DH said absolutely NO to a verandah. He was worried about our 2yo. Well, he will turn 3 on the cruise. Was he right to be worried because I really wanted a verandah but he won.

Locks are high and difficult. I had a hard time getting our verandah door open and I'm much bigger, stronger, and older than a three year old. And if they were out there you would be too. The railings look open but they have plexiglass covering the openings. Having been on a Disney verandah, it's not a concern of mine anymore.
