Besides the room, what do I get when staying at a DVC location w/ rented points? I'm wondering if Transfers, Theme Park Tickets, or other amentities are included? Thank you for any help you can give.

Thanks,
Earl

I believe you should get the ground transport in the WDW and the Magical Express. Members (and threefore renters as well) do not get Theme Park admision :confused3

The above post is correct - a DVC stay on points will include Magical Express, on-site bus transportation and the room. You must purchase park passes separately.

There are other member 'perks' but you are not entitled to them as a renter. These are things like Pool Hopping, Free Valet Parking, and some discounts.

As a renter you're only entitled to regular WDW resort guests amenities. The same as if you stayed at any of the other WDW resorts. You get ME, internal transportation, and the amenities at the resort itself.

Note that there at least one significant difference you don't get with a DVC rental. You don't get daily mousekeeping (that is a big one). You are also subject to more complex and restrictive cancellations.

You get very nice lodging with limited housekeeping. No tickets, no dining plan for free. You purchase your own tickets and the dining plan for all guests staying on your reservation for the entire length of stay if you choose to get it. Plus the same benefits as all the other WDW resort guests - entrance for EMH, free parking at the theme parks, ability to send your packages to your resort, you can use your room ID for charging if you leave a credit card with the front desk.

You can get the DP without tying it into a package. Just let the person you are renting from know so that they can put it on your reservation. You still have to pay for it.

One thing bothers me about the Villas section of the resorts. When you stay, lets say at the BWI, you get daily cleaning, and new towels. If you stay in the Villas section, you get cleaning and towels only on day 4 and day 8. (if you stay that long) I know that we have a washer and dryer in the room, but if someone could shed a little light on this pet peeve of mine, I'd really appreciate it.

It's simple.

DVC is your "home away from home."

Do you wash your towels at home every day? Most of us don't!

You can still get new towels daily (and trash service) if you are willing to pay extra for it.

Its very expensive to have daily maid service and we pay for that with our dues. DVC dues are pretty high already for the timeshare world. Timeshares generally don't have daily maid service (in other countries they sometimes do where labor is very cheap, it the U.S. its almost unheard of because of the expense). Even just washing towels every day is expensive. DVC has offered people who want daily maid service the ability to pay for it, while members who don't find the value there, don't need the expense - giving people a win-win.

You can always pack a few extra towels of your own from home too....

Is there a place where you can take your own trash out if you need to? I was just thinking if we threw out leftovers or something and didn't want it to stink up the room for 4 days you know?

There is...When we were at VB a couple of weeks ago I called housekeeping (but they didn't pick up so I got the front desk) because I didn't know where to deposit my trash and they were able to tell me exactly where to look :thumbsup2 They even asked if they should send someone to come get my trash :cloud9: I thanked them and said no, I would take it.

If you are in the community style DVC villas, there usually is a place on the first floor of each building. If you are in the hotel style DVC villas, there is a trash room on each floor of the building. They usually have a container for ordinary solid waste and one for recyclable trash.

As other posters have mentioned, if you rent points from someone, you can get magical express to/from MCO. However, you must have the person that you are renting points from sign you up for it. I.e. you must sign up in advance. (You may already know this, but I didn't want you to be disappointed if you didn't signup in advance and you walked up to the ME counter at the airport and couldn't get transportation.)
