What do your teens wear to dinner??

The last time we cruised my kids were little and happily wore what I packed for them. We have a 3 day on the Dream coming up that's a surprise for my two teenaged girls, and I have no idea what to pack! One (17) lives in Lululemon leggings and the other (13) in ripped jeans. What do your teens typically wear to dinner? The girls will be packing one nice outfit for a nicer dinner at Disney pre-cruise (the Disney trip isn't a surprise), so I really just need to figure out the other two nights. Pirate Night was our least favorite on the last cruise, so I suspect we'll skip it this time.

Ours wear sundresses/sleeveless type dresses. Jeans and non-logoed t-shirts would be good but ours just change into dresses for dinner and then right out afterwards into their Nike shorts/leggings/etc!

Mine wear what they are most comfortable in for a nice setting. Most evenings DD will likely wear jeans and a 'nice' t-shirt with her preferred heeled boots. She has some dresses and nicer outfits she could wear, but it is her vacation too, so whatever she prefers is fine. They won't look out of place in ripped jeans or even leggings if paired with a dressier top and shoes. DS on the other hand, we will be bribing into pants or even remotely appropriate attire.

This is exactly what I was thinking my girls would do--eat and then quickly change back into their comfy clothes! Thanks for the reply!

I appreciate this advice; it is their vacation too! I think we'll have 2 dresses packed along with a "nicer" pair of jeans or a skirt. "Nicer" shoes for my 13 yo means a cleaner pair of sneakers! 🤣 Now I just need to figure out how to pack all this extra clothing without them noticing!

For a 3 day cruise, I wouldn't worry about it. They really can dress casual all 3 nights (shorts/jeans/t-shirt) and not look out of place.

Here is Disney's 'dress code':
"In general, most onboard dining locations are "cruise casual,” so casual attire, such as shorts and T-shirts, is permitted, with the exception of swimwear and tank tops. Most cruises have special theme nights that provide opportunities to dress up for a one-of-a-kind family photo. Here's a breakdown of special dress events by cruise itinerary:"
3-night cruises:
  • One cruise casual night—no swimwear or tank tops
  • One pirate night themed deck party
  • One optional “dress-up night"—jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women
