I hate being bogged down with stuff to carry. I do try to pawn it off to anyone in my family that will carry it. Sometimes a "hey hold this a sec" as I walk away works, but they are on to me. I just bought a Baggallini to use next trip.

Clothes wise we all wear quick drying shorts and a tee shirt. I like the idea of DH wearing shorts with all those pockets! This is a very funny thread. :rotfl:

Our family usually wears shorts and tshirts. This year though I'm wearing those hippie cotton skirts with a tank top. I think that the skirts will keep me cooler. In case my experiment doesn't work,I am bringing shorts.

Just an FYI....

J.Crew makes great tee shirts, they are called tissue tees. They are inexpensive and very comfortable, they dry fast and fold so small, I take 15 (ok maybe more) or so every vacation. Lots of people think the less you wear the cooler you are (those unsightly bikini tops) but that is not true...these will keep you cool and comfy and looking good. Just thought I would pass it along, they are just such great tee's. www.jcrew.com if interested.

Don't bother carrying hand sanitizers unless they're a "wipe" kind. The gels don't work.

I have discovered lightweight clothing with SPF right in the garment from LLBean. For 2-3 years I have had a long sleeved shirt, button down with two breast pockets that close. I often wear that so I don't have to worry about sunscreen and my arms and shoulders. I usually wear a cool max T-shirt underneath, occasionally a bathing suit top. In the past I have worn quick drying shorts or capris. With all those pockets, I can often leave any type of drag along behind, although I wear my belly bag about half of the time. I have recently purchased a pair of capris with SPF from Bean. They have a bunch of pockets. Oh, and I have recently discovered crocs. I wore them almost exclusively on my last trip to UO.

yea, it's a psychological thing for me, LOL, plus I love the smell of the apple one and I wipe it on the back of my neck on sweltering days and feel completely refreshed....I think they're mostly alcohol. Dh and ds won't admit it but they like them too, they hold their hands out whenever I pull it out, LOL.

The SPF clothes are a great idea, but does the SPF last? I thought i heard something that the SPF factor wshes out after a few washes (not sure).

What I do (and make my DH do as well) is first of all I buy sunscreen that contains Mexoryl, it is not available in this country, but I buy it from Canada. It is the most amazing sunscreen. The most important thing to do is to cover your ENTIRE body with sunscreen, even though it is going to be covered by clothes or a bathing suit. I put it on like moisturizer after a shower I use a generous amount and make sure it is all absorbed by rubbing it in and letting it dry. Most people do not realize that sunscreen takes 45 minutes to work. It has to be completely absorbed into the skin. If you put it on then 5 min later go in the water it comes off immediately and you will burn. So just remember, just because you are wearing a tee shirt, you are not protected from the sun..put sunscreen everywhere :sunny: Even where you think the sun doesn't shine

I must be doing something right I am going to be 45 and people think I am 35!

That's something I definately wear in USO!

In the summer months, as little as possible ;)

And, USF and WDW are the only places I wear a fanny pack :scared1:

you're in better shape with the "wipe" than you are the gel! you at least have the friction of the wipe. :teeth:

I know what you are saying--I had heard the same. LLBean says that theirs doesn't wash out--that it is woven into the fabric :confused3 I looked and they call it UPF--like SPF, only for clothes. It is UPF 40 BTW. (IF you look at the LLBean site, look for tropicwear--you can find it with the fishing clothing) My skin is very fair, and I do use sunscreen in addition to the clothing. I know that you are supposed to let the sunscreen sink in before exposure, but I did not know 45 minutes! I had not heard of the Canadian stuff. Why can't we get it here? FDA regs?

BTW--I'm an Island girl myself--grew up in Bethpage. :thumbsup2

I try to go as light as possible:

On my body - Flip flops, swim trunks with velcro or zipper pockets (have learned from the Hulk that stuff falls out), cotton t-shirt.

In my pocket - Driver's license for ID, one credit card, park tix, cash, room key for FOTL

On my mind - nothing!! that's why i love uo!!!

pirate: pirate:

My son and I rode Popeye once with a couple of girls that obviously didn't know that they were going to get wet. One had a top that was sheer and nothing underneath. I didn't need to take a picture because the vision was permanently etched in my son's mind. He was drooling like Homer Simpson at a free buffet.

:rotfl2: .....that'd be MY luck w/ my DS! (not to mention DH!)
