What do you wear to Universal?

We have learned over the years to travel light when touring but there is a certain amount of stuff that you have to haul around with you like cash, the Studio Guide, mints, cash, camera, billfold, annual passes, cash, etc. This weekend I wore a pair of Orvis Zambezi twill cargo shorts that had 14 pockets and together with a Columbia Performance Fishing Gear fly fishing shirt I had more than enough pockets.

i wear my chain saw wolf group tshirt and shorts with pockets.

wear a lanyard card holder for room key, pass, money.

stick a bill in my sock for emergencies.

if i am going to be there from opening to closing, have worn a belly bag for the cell phone and latch the mug around the strap.

and a hat...........that's where i stick my cat in the hat and universal pins

I wear normal clothes but carry the Coach Signature Swing Pack. It goes across the body, very comfortable and does not have to come off on rides...it holds everything I need camera, room key and park tix and a lipstick or two. My Dh just carries his room key and park tix. I always crack up when I see people dressed like they are going on a safari :lmao: I mean it's a theme park in Florida....what could you possibly need?

Universal we go as light as possible. You get too wet there not too. I never take a bag since all you are ever doing there is putting it in a locker.

In my family everyone wears bathing suits with the water shorts that dry quick with flip flops and a shirt. We carry id, cc, room key if we are staying there, and aps (all in lanyards). I have even stopped taking my camera and I try to get away without my cell phone.

motherfletcher........just reread your post.

mints?? :confused3

i was wondering about the "cash, camera, billfold, annual passes, cash, etc." part...seems like an awful lot of cash to me :confused3

We take a camera, some cash, room key, tix and water bottle. Actually looking forward to one day at park taking NOTHING!!! No camera, water bottle, etc...... Also going to take (one day) a waterproof camera--I want to sit opposite DS and get his picture (hopefully getting soaked!! :teeth: ) on Popeye ride :teeth:

when i do hhn, i only wear the lanyard around the neck with the epp, room key and park hhn ticket. no phone or camera

thats it...

Um...Raid?!?! :rolleyes1

This is a great topic! I have certainly evolved over the years with regard to what I bring to the parks! I am also constantly amazed and sometimes horrified at what some people actually lug along with them! I am also eternally grateful that my kids are 11 and 13 and not toddlers! :teeth: Been there, done that!

I was such a frequent traveler that over time I learned the fine art of traveling light and when the kids were big enough to not have to drag stuff along, I went purse free, even on a daily basis at home! :thumbsup2

Anyway, I bring my little wallet thing that has my pass and money and credit cards and such...in my right back pocket, and in my left back pocket is my cell phone. That's about it!

OH, but this is about what you wear, not what you bring :rolleyes1 , so generally, I'm wearing shorts or jeans and a tee or whatever top strikes me that day. Sometimes the top will be a little more low cut for Mardi Gras. :teeth: Once in awhile the urge strikes me to have a "wet" day and in that case, I wear some kind of waterproof shorts (and OK, I admit...I once wore a man's bathing suit cuz it was black and just looked like regular shorts :rolleyes1 ) and a bathing suit top...the ones that look like a thin-strapped tank top work well...and then I wear a button down top over that, so I can whisk the button down off for a ride and then put it on after. There are some days I just spring for a locker and have a whole outfit for the water rides in it. Sandals are a must on those days only too! :thumbsup2

And hey, I'm glad MotherFletcher brings mints...I wish more people did!
I am thinking if I ever saw you in the parks now, I'd KNOW it's you....14 pockets in a pair of shorts??? :rotfl2: Can you be rented by the hour? :teeth:

I go for comfort and am always wondering what is UP with the women that wear spiked heels to a theme park!?!? :confused3

I wear nothing to Universal. It makes the water rides less of a hassle.

Someone had to do it.

When my son was a pup we would go to Disney (because Universal was just a gleam) and we would take everything that we could fit on the rented stroller. Movie camera (when they were big), still camera with telephoto lens a foot long and heavy, snacks enough for thrashers, diaper bag with every baby accessory on the market, water bottles, juice, rain gear, stuffed animals, sun screen, etc. We looked like pack mules.
I got to take mints. As fast as we walk it isn't long before its cottonmouth time. DS17 is quick to tell me that it smells like I ate a sh*t sandwich. :rolleyes1
Wet days I have to take zip lock bags for my wallet and cell. If we stay on site I've taken as little a the APs and the room keys (with charging privileges) in a lanyard.
With 14 pockets I could feel where something was from the outside but it took a while to locate which hole it was in. Remember the Banana Man on Capt. Kangaroo?

car keys...............i don't carry them when in orlando.

but if i had to, i would put them where i hide everything........

either in my bra or sock

I'm cracking up. I always pack dh's pockets with so much stuff that he has trouble keeping his cargo shorts up all day, and the best is when I had him carry a few frozen bottles of water!

small camera, kids Bath & Body Works hand sanitizer foam, a tiny tube of sunscreen, lip balm, a couple of bandaids, keys, passes, id, a few dollars, debit card, and a bottle of water.

Plain red t-shirt with jean or kahki shorts, looks good in photos and usually coordinates with whatever ds and dh are wearing...I'm a geek scrapbooker.

I'm also a socks and tennis shoe person and one of those as soon as the cm pushes us off on the Popeye ride, they come off and go into the bin person. (I promise I won't sue if I get a splinter.)

It's so funny that a question about what you wear automatically leads to what you bring because most people wear clothes with convenient pockets to carry all that stuff.

I'll tell you something I don't wear......bloomers :cool1: Underwear is absolutely the most uncomfortable thing to wear, espically when you get wet from a ride....ugh and it takes forever to dry. Absolutely the worst feeling.

This thread reminds me of the time I asked a fellow DISer was she "amazed" by the things people wear to Universal? She said in her Texas drawl... "aMAZED? I'm APPALLED!!!" :scared1:

Hey comfort is my #`1 priority :lmao:

The less I have to wear the :sunny: I am.

Nothing is exposed or see thru, but I am happiest when I can wear 4 items or less - 1-shirt 2- bra 3-shorts 4 sandals...

My favorite places are beach bars...2 items bathing suit top and bottom :rotfl2:

I have seen some people walking around Islands of Adventure in bathingsuits only - I guess for the water rides. It's ok when you are part of the under 12 set but after that it's just :sad2: espically the women wearing the bikini tops that look like a pirates eye patch trying to cover a low hung bowling ball.
