What do you use your iPad for?

I use mine every single night in the kitchen. Most of my recipes are from either the Food Network app or various food blogs. I hated the waste of constantly printing off the recipes, so this works really well. Sometimes I'll need to look up ingredients substitutions so it's great having the internet handy as well.

Not the reason to BUY an ipad, but we certainly use it quite a bit.

I have the wifi - first generation.

I used to use the netbook a lot. Now I hardly ever use it. The ipad has replaced most of what I used to do with the netbook and it is more portable.

-email
-calander - I use the google calendar and sync it with my ipad
-web surfing - although when at home I usually use the pc
-photos
-music
-facebook
-scrabble and lexulous on facebook
-kindle app
-nook app
-online magazines (zinio app)
-notepad

but mostly - I use it to read digital library books using the Overdrive app.

It's good for . . .

- surfing the net -- that's really its main function; it's convenient to be able to use the iPad while sitting on the sofa watching TV.
- internet access away from home; you can't beat the combination of screen size /weight.
- checking email FAST 'cause it's already THERE.
- movies away from home.

It's not good for . . .

- typing responses; it's slow and it's easy to make mistakes.
- reading books; the glare on the screen is awful, and the weight of the iPad gets old in a hurry if you're a lie-on-your-back-reader.
- using recipes in the kitchen; it turns off before you get to the next step.
- battery life.

In conclusion, I like but do not love my iPad. It is a nice little tool, but it is not the do-everything wonder that it's made out to be.

I have to disagree about your "not good for"
I love reading on it and have not found it to be heavy at all, I can type really well on the virtual keyboard and use it more than my desktop and I think the battery life is amazingly long. I do keep the charger on my bedside table though so it is easy to plug it in when I go to bed. Iam always using it before I go to sleep anyway.

I am another in the camp of "can't live without it and use it all the time". All of my kids have their own laptops and when my husband wanted to get one for me, I wanted the ipad instead. I think I made a good decision and have been so very happy with it. For me it really is a "do everything wonder".
