predict what year this dress was made

again, state your reasons based on style, neckline, trends, train style, etc...

I am so bad at that type of thing. It is a beautiful dress. The adornments on the bodice is amazing.

I agree this is a beautiful dress and i think this dress was made in the late 90s or early 2000s because very rarely do you see halter thick straps and long poofy skirt/train go together.

My first reaction was late 90's. I got married in 1998 and the bottom half of this dress is very similar to the one I wore. In fact, the skirt is cut exactly like mine was and I also had a lot of beading on mine, as well as small bows down the back. I think a lot of brides choose straighter, and simpler, gowns these days, which has never really been my style. I like the dress in the picture and I think the halter-type top is really nice.

I said 2009 -- the halter style is very popular among younger women now, but it seems like the big skirts are coming back (let's face it, most women look like a princess in them). Might have been 1990's but it's missing the Butt Bow. The skirt also looks like it's 2 parts ie. the train and an overskirt, which is a more recent trend -- never saw that in the 90's. But, I have to add, the appliques on the front of the skirt look just like my friend's (from 1993)

The hairdo - hm, that could have put it in another era, but since I didn't see a big, poufy headpiece, or at least a headband, I went with 2009.

BTW, you'll have to tell us who makes the dress too.

I thought the same thing about the butt bow. See my earlier post. I think your right about the halter top style. I don't recall seeing any of that in the late 90's when I got married.

I guessed 2000. I got married in 2000 and I was looking for one with a halter top but hated the ones I tried on.

But, now that I look at the back a bit closer, maybe it is an updated look for 2009?

lol, i was looking at wedding dresses and i found a designer derekiang.com and this was the same exact dress as style #11011 so indeed it is a current dress.

also, isn't this the same exact dress as bridetobe000 posted in her "which dress should i choose" thread? (the dress on the right with the purple curtains i mean). i remember seeing that dress in the private collection spring 2007 season.

my cousin is wearing this dress for her wedding. i can't wait to see how it looks on her.
