What do you think you inherited (non-monetarily) from your parents?

I think I got my mom's common sense and my dad's compulsive nature. I know physically, I inherited my mom's eye color.

Hmmm...let's see. I got my mother's legginess and her hair. I seem to be the spitting image of her father's mother (my great-grandmother). I also got her love of giving to other people. Sometimes I think she would much rather see someone thrilled with a gift she gave rather than get one herself. Also got my love of family from her. From my dad...whole different story. My less than perfect teeth, his bad skin, his mother's pudgy ankles, red in my hair. But also his great sense of humor, his theatrical bent but not his vocal talents(and I use that word talent very loosely!!). Got vocals from my mother, thank heaven. Got money sense from my dad (see mother's gift giving above!!). My dad's hazel eyes. My mother's moodiness. Interesting thread. I never really thought too much about it. Thanks.

From my Mom, her incredible kindness and generousity.:sunny:

From my Dad, his quietness and ability to save for a rainy day.:sunny:

My dad's sense of humor and I don't think I inherited anything from my mom - we're very different.;)

My father's eye color and my mother's stubborn nature :)

My mother's stubborn nature and my dad's bad temper! Luckily, I have learned to control both of these emotions, my mother, know that is a whole other story.:sad2:

My dad's intelligence and metabolism  - my mom's caring nature and lack of assertiveness.

My dad's baldness, heart disease, temper.

My mom's small teeth, hearing problems, emotions.

:teeth:

Fat genes, my dad's temper and monetary tightness.

My Dad's love and concern for children and animals and my Mom's edge, candor and bulldoggedness to protect those who cannot protect themselves.

I also inherited their work ethic. No matter what, you work for what you want and never accept anything from anyone you didn't earn. Love your kids but discipline them, make sure NO ONE minds taking care of them when you're not around. Be their friend but make sure they know who's in charge.

I had the best Mom and Dad in the world.... :teeth: and I MISS THEM!

I have my Mom's eyes and her calves. My Dad's nose..and his stubborness-and his slow to anger but watch out when he does ways, and his worry worry worry all the time...and his sense of humor(sarcastic), and my mom's love of laughter.

My Mom was not a worrier, very outgoing, and everything rolled off her back-that's not me at all, it's my little brother to a T.

Even though feature by feature I don't look like my Mom, we did look alot alike.
When I first cut my hair short a few years ago(like hers was), I was in The Disney Store and noticed my Mom a few feet away, just as I was saying Hey, Mom! I noticed it was ME in a mirror. LOL

My Mom worked for the county special services school district as a teachers assistant, and I subbed there for a couple of years at various schools.
One day I walked into a classroom of a school I had never been to before, met the teacher and she says to me, it's so odd, you look *just* like this woman named Mickey who was my assisstant years ago. Yup, that was my Mom. LOL

At her wake so many people came up to me and told me how much I reminded them of my Mom.
I was always hapy to look like her, and now it's a blessing to look in the mirror and be reminded of her every day.

My dad's hair genes (all the women on his side were gray or white haired by the time they were in their early twenties!), thank goodness for Clairol!
My mom's penchant for sending cards to people. Also her faith! Miss her so much.

My dad's eyes, height, hair, brains, etc. I was not around him a lot growing up and now when we are together I am amazed to see how much alike we really are. Sometimes it scares me.

Nice thread......

I think that I have two pretty terrific parents and I'm blessed that they are healthy and live not too far from me.

From my mother - I think I've inherited my mother's coloring (blond hair and blue eyes.), her mathematic ability, her faith and determination, loyalty to friends and family, her generosity. I wish I inherited her artistic abilities as she is one of the most creative people I know!!!

From my father - a sense of humor (especially to laugh at myself!! :teeth: ), natural friendliness, generosity, strong work ethic, loyalty to family and friends, and love of Disney. I wish I had inherited his musical ability, and his ability to fix everything as he is quite the handy person and I definitely am not.

I'm sure there is more, but I can't think of anything else. My parents are wonderful and if I've inherited a sliver of their talents then I think I am doing ok!

:sunny:

I think I look more like my father than my mother. I got my mothers love for Disney.
And ironically we were just discussing this. My kids put on their old dirty sneakers before going to DH's company outing today. There was no way Id let them go wearing them and I didnt notice it until we were about 45 minutes from home. I had to stop at a nearby mall and buy them new sneakers...I could not let them go like that. In telling my DM she laughed because she said she would have done the same thing. So, I dont kow what that trait is, but I got it.

Hair, skin, stubbornness, and my attitude comes from my mom. My shape definitely came from her side, although it missed her. Eye color, patience, quietness, and sense of humor from my dad.

Hummm, very interesting thread...
From my dad: stubborness, very strong work ethic, responsibility for one's actions, confidence, long & thin fingers and quick sense of humor.
From my mom: thick blond hair, green eyes, physically built the same, not too much personality wise. My mom is so sweet, kind, sheepish and quiet, I am more bullish and loud:rolleyes:
