I am paranoid and obsessive by nature so maybe I am reading more into this than I should.

I had been experiencing some weird minor things for several years. Nothing terrible (or so I thought) but I decided I should go see a doctor and get a tune-up. I have not had a major physical in about 10 years.

My new doctor pooh-poohed my concerns but scheduled me for a bunch of tests to get baseline info. He said to call back in 6 weeks for an appointment to go over the test results. This was Feb 12. Well, I have completed only 2 of the 4 tests when I get a call from his office yesterday to schedule an appointment ASAP.

I told them I had not completed the tests but they scheduled the appointment for next week.

I am sooo freaked out thinking they found something and I am going to get terrible news.

What do you guys think?

I would think if it was something terrible that they would have had you come in right away. Maybe they just want to get you started on a new medicine soon or something like that.

Hope this doesn't bother you all weekend and that you do get to enjoy it.

I feel for you because I'm the same way!

Sounds like there is something important that they want to tell you immediatly. Not sure what it is and since they didn't tell you over the phone, try to relax as much as you can until you find out the news. I hope everything is ok. I know it's hard cause you don't know what's going on.

I am most worried about missing my WDW trip in April/May:worried:

I am trying not to worry. The nurse wouldn't tell me anything (that was the other strange thing - I was talking to the nurse rather than the appointment-setter).

I'd call back and say that you are not going to wait it out, and you want some information now. Ask to speak to the doctor if they can't tell you anything.

 I'd be tempted to call them to get them to tell me something over the phone to keep me from worrying the worst case scenario.

Maybe they found out you're pregnant with triplets or something.:)

Try to relax. I know it's hard but it could literally be anything.

I went to the drs. last year because I had these strange chest pains and they did a EKG. The doctor runs downstairs and says I've already had a heart attack! He gives me all this medicine and tells me to make an appointment for an ultrasound and cardiologist. I spend four days sick to death from the medicine and scared to death I won't make it to the summer. Find out the EKG is totally wrong and I've got the healthiest heart in the world.

Another one - my daugher smacks her head on the ice, take her to ER, they do a CAT scan of her head. They say she got a slight concussion and sends us home. Then her peds office calls, leaves message that I have to call them right away. Of course, I freak, can't get a hold of anyone, finally schedule appointment but they won't tell me anything on the phone. We get there and find out she's got a sinus infection and needs antibiotics. I could have strangled someone.

Did you have blood tests? It could be your clorestoral - can't spell it!! Or iron level.

Don't worry about your trip. Hopefully, everything will be straighted out by then or postponed until after you go have some fun and relax.

They didn't do any bloodwork! Can you believe it? Maybe that's why they are calling...they forgot to do it! :)

I had a barium swallowing test, wore a Holter heart monitor for 24 hours, had a mammogram, PAP, and a stool test.

The symptoms that concerned me were occasional heart palpitations and problems swallowing food.

Otherwise I don't drink, smoke, not overweight, I exercise, etc...

I guess I won't get hold of anyone over the weekend so I guess I will stick it out till Wednesday.

Thanks for the support.

Ha! I would be in trouble as DH has had "the operation." :scratchin

You never want to dismiss anything. However, I have worked in doctor's office's for many years and here's what I've learned: The nurse almost always does these types of calls, just their job. The secretaries or receptionist really never place these calls. Also, it sometimes can be soooo minor it's ridiculous. I mean they've called people and had them worried sick over slightly elevated cholesterol levels (have them come in and tell them to watch their diet and retest in 6 months). USUALLY, if it were that serious either the doctor themselves would get on the phone and tell you, or they'd ask to see you right away!! It is stressful whenever anything like this happens. Hopfully things will be fine, and you'll be mad more than anything else that they've put you through this worry.

It is a shame that the weekend is here, but I sure would not wait past Monday morning to call them. Leaving you hanging and worrying like this is just not fair. Insist they give you more info on Monday.

And good luck !

Due to the HIPPA laws they may not be able to tell you anything over the phone. I hope it turns out to be something minor and easily treated. Let us know what happens.

I didn't think about that. When that came into effect I had to sign a form saying they were allowed to call me and give me results and had to list which numbers they were allowed to call.

Pig Pen I hope that is the situation for you, that they need to see you in person because of the new laws.

I remember signing something about HIPAA.....

I sure hope everything works out for you. I don't care for the way they are handling this. Surely some one would try to calm you down since you have to wait so long. If you're not satisfied with the procedures, I'd consider changing doctors.

I am no doctor, but from what you described it could be acid reflux. I have trouble swallowing and sore throats on a regular basis. I simply take a medicine for it and watch what I eat. I had to do the whole barium thing before they told me what it was. Some people actually suffer chest pains from acid reflux.

I find it very frustrating the way in which doctor's offices leave information. It seems like they always call when you are not at home or a nurse calls that cannot give any details. Then you get to worry for several days.

Try not to worry to much. The odds are with you that it is nothing terrible. Good luck!
