What do you think the odds are for an upgrade...

in early Dec? We are considering changing our ressies ($149 park view PPH  ) to the concierge (if it's still available). We LOVE the pix of the views though, and are reluctant to give that up! It looks like we can only get the $169 pool view concierge rooms, and many of you here recommended going for concierge over the view, so...

now we're wondering if we change the ressies, how likely might it be that we can get a complimentary upgrade to a view room at that time of year? I keep reading about others who got upgrades...

I know it's impossible to really tell, but I thought I would ask anyways! Thanks again!

It's tough to say. Of the 3 times we paid for a standard/city view room, we were only upgraded once (that was when we stayed concierge at PPH).

We have stayed standard view at PPH 3 times and have been upgraded to theme park view each time. The first time, it was the end of the holdiay season, with kids going back to school the next day. I think everyone was checking out of the hotel except us! But the next 2 times were busy Saturday nights where the hotel was sold out, but we were only staying for the one night. I think that at busy times, the fewer nights you are staying, the more likely you are to be upgraded.

We have booked standard view again for early Dec and fully expect that our luck will have run out and we will actually get a standard view. Although we love the theme park view, at the AP4 price for SV, we are happy just to be at the PPH. It actually works out a little cheaper than the Sheraton at which we usually stay, which has no view worth mentioning.

Best of luck -- Suzanne

The only times I've been upgraded have been in December. Last year we were uipgraded at the GCH because someone had booked a block of rooms for a party, so we got a theme park view room, instead of a standard. 2 years ago we were at the PP in a standard room on December 14(my birthday, so I remember the date), and we were upgraded to a theme park view room. It can happen.

I also have stayed at all 3 DL resort hotels and the only one I have received a free upgrade to theme park view is at PPH! So while it's not guaranteed, I wish you good luck!

We have booked concierge for dec also and only the standard view was available.... we upgraded last week. Hopefully the upgrade will be there when we get there!!

Of the around 30 times we have stayed at PP. We have only been denied an upgrade 5!!! We had annual passes and only went off season but the worst that could happen is they say no. Give it a try!!! We will be back there from Dec. 4th to the 6th.

Was it complimentary, or did you have to pay? Thanks!

It was always complimentary. I think if you have a "real" castmember and are friendly to them, it helps a lot.

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!

We are going to DL from Nov 30th till Dec 9th, I heard this is a very mellow time so it may be easy to get upgrades, we go 1 or 2 times a year and this time its for my 13 yr old DD's B-day :cutie: . My question is:grouphug: . Should I wait till I get there to request an upgrade or should I put the request in ahead of time and when you say PPH concierge is $169 is that just the concierge floor or is that with the service too?

I have had the concierge service before and it was great but it will be alittle costly for the amount of days we are staying. princess:

It would be great to get a upgrade:yay: that would make my daughter feel so special:cloud9: , if I mention that we are there to celebrate something does that make a difference.:cheer2: Any info will help :flower3:

Thanks Zena :)

I have always just asked during check in but it wouldn't hurt to put in an early request. Make sure the castmember knows about the birthday. Last year, my wife told them about mine and I got a button that keeps giving you attention the whole trip, a bunch of balloons ( I gave them to a little girl in a wheelchair) and a signed picture of Mickey. I had people and castmembers alike wishing me a happy birthday the entire weekend.

Have Fun
