DS16 left his Ipod Touch on the bus this afternoon. He realized it as soon as he got off, but the bus was already gone. He said he had it on his knee looking at something and then someone started talking to him. He thinks it fell off his knee when he got up. He called a friend on the bus and asked him to look for it, but the friend said he didn't see it. He is crushed of course. He is not the best at keeping up with things, but has had his Touch since August 2008 without losing it until now. He usually doesn't ride the bus in the morning, but he is going to tomorrow to look for it and ask if anyone found it. I told him I would give a $20 reward if someone turned it in. What do you think the chances are that he will get it back?

was this a school bus? if so did you call the bus office? call they are there late
usually. My DD left her violin on one time and the driver had found it and turned it in.

If it fell under the seat it may not have been found and the driver could look in the morning before kids get on

Pretty slim, but you never know. Good luck to him!

Yes, it was the school bus. I doubt they are there this late. I wish I had thought of that earlier. But looking at the transportation part of the website, it does look like they are open at 6am. I will call tomorrow morning and see if they can get in touch with the bus driver to check the bus or see if it was turned in. Looks like that bus is used for elementary before high school, so that is probably a better idea then waiting until he gets on the bus. I will just keep my fingers crossed. He has so much stuff on there that he doesn't even want to consider saving up for a new one:guilty:

Good Luck.. we "lost" a touch and a cell phone....sadly not turned in.....................Hope it works out better for you!

Yeah, it's not really "lost" if you know where you left it and then it isn't there I guess. I just know DS would turn in anything like that he found. I am hoping it fell down in the crack or someone with a conscience found it and turned it in to the bus driver. Either way, I think DS has learned a lesson about keeping things in his pocket when he isn't using them.

Stranger things have happened. DS left his cell phone on the school bus last spring. And of course, the battery was low, and subsequently died. A few days later DH gets a call from the receptionist at the transportation company. She had found a charger that would work, charged the phone, and called the number listed for 'home'.

I'd definitely give them a call 1st thing.

I'm setting my alarm for 6am and I just hope the bus driver finds it. DS said he was sitting by the window and he thinks it could have fallen between the seat and the wall. He is teetering between feeling hopeful and hopeless.

Absolutely! DH lost his mp4 player (Cowon) on the train. He was exiting and brushed up against the side of the doorway, and that is likely when the velcroed phone/mp3 pocket thing came off of his messenger bag strap.

He called the lost and found people at the station, he asked security guards, he bugged them for weeks.

He finally replaced it with a Sansa player.

A few months after that, he saw a guy on the train with a Cowon. With an amount of guts that few people could summon, he approached the guy. And...the guy....was honest. Said he'd found it a few months before, and he was happy to give it back to DH! And he did! A few things were gone from it..it might have been kicking around for a month before the guy found it, but it was easy to tell it was DH's by the memory card content and whatnot. Amazing!

We still need to get that guy a giftcard...good reminder here!

Definitely check with L&F. If the kids on the bus are kids that he goes to school with, he should ask and have friends ask around...ask the bus driver perhaps to make an announcement about the player? My friend is a bus driver and I can imagine her doing such a thing for a student...

Good luck!

Called the bus office and the guy who answered said he would call the driver and have him look. He said he would call me back if it was found. If I don't get a call, I will make sure DS asks everyone on the bus. The people on the bus when he gets on should be the people who were still on there when he got off. He could definitely identify his Ipod even from the outside, because it has a couple cracks on the screen from him dropping it a few months ago.

Don't give up hope. Last year DD was a freshman and took the bus to her first "away" game. She left everything on the bus with the assumption the bus would bring her back to her school after the game. She left her cell phone, ipod, sweatshirt, etc. Apparently, this is not how it works and a different bus picked them up. We thought for sure she would get none of her things back, but she got everything back. I don't recall if it was turned in by another student or found by the driver, but this wasn't even her regular bus. It was a bus hired for her team transporation. So, possibly he will luck out. Good luck!

Even if no one says that they found it yesterday, wait a few days and speak to the principal at the school. Kids talk. It's unlikely that someone who "found" an ipod isn't going to start carrying it around and bragging to his friends that he has one. Someone will let your DS know that an ipod mysteriously turned up in someone's pocket.

My DS's cell phone was stolen from his gym locker last school year. No one knew who did it, but everyone suspected. The school's resource officer got involved and the boy finally started bragging to his friends that one of his friend's parents gave him a blackberry. When he was called into the principal's office with his grandmother, he confessed to "finding it on a hill" on the way home from school. We were able to prove that the phone was ours by the serial number. (He had thrown away the simm card, so all of my DS's information was gone.)

The boy was arrested and we had to fill out a form for the court. We recommended that this boy be "sentenced" to Big Brothers/Big Sisters for a specific period of time because the boy had no male role models and was just left to his own devices all the time. The judge agreed with us and he now has a "big brother" to guide him.

So, hopefully, your DS's ipod will turn up through the gossip mill at school if by no other means.

No luck. I called this morning and the bus garage man said he would call the driver and have him look. He said he would call me back if it was found. He didn't. DS said it was a different bus this morning, but the driver had stopped by and looked in the regular bus and did not find it. They were on the regular bus this afternoon. DS said he asked everyone on the bus if they had seen it and noone had. He will be keeping his eyes and ears open and see if it turns up. I think I will call the school and let them know in case it is turned into lost and found there. I'll call the elementary school as well, since those kids were on the bus first this afternoon. I just don't feel much hope for him getting it back. We have the serial number on the warranty receipt, so if he suspects someone has it, we can use that I guess.

Yeah I'd call the bus company back in a few days also. someone could still find it if it got kicked into a corner or something and then surfaces later. I'd have my son checking the seat and the corners of the bus again things can get wedged in or "hide" when you are looking for them. I'm hoping he looked around on the ground where he got out of the bus? And he thoroughly checked his back pack and pockets just in case. (can you tell I have a teenager)

I think it is a very good idea to call the elementary school they may have turned it in.

Good Luck I hope it was just kicked under the heating vents on the bus and shows up when they sweep.

Good luck. My DD hit the "trifecta" last year. In one fell swoop, she lost her Vera Bradley lunch bag containing her Ipod and her cell phone. I called transportation as soon as I found out. (which wasn't until later that night, but that's another story.)

I did find out that you can contact your apple store and report the item missing, especially if you have the id number. If it comes into the store for repair, they will take it.

Again, good luck!
