OK I need some opinions. We are trying to decide between the 50's Prime Time Diner, Sci Fi, and Mama Melrose. What do you guys/gals think?

I think 50's Prime Time, but DH is not sure. I have not heard to much about Mama Melrose and would like some info about it. Also this is our 1st trip to DW and I want it to be great.

Thanks! :goodvibes :goodvibes

Definitely 50's Primetime. :thumbsup2 This is a must-dine at least once every trip. :woohoo: The food is hot and tasty and the service is great.

Have dined at Sci0Fi a couple of times, but found the food to be just so-so.

I don't know, but I do know that at 50's Prime Time, they mess with you, so if you don't care for too much antics (the choo choo if you don't eat your veggies, I heard one guy on here was sent to the corner etc) I would skip this one. I was going to reserve this one, but DH, although outgoing, does not care to be in the public spotlight too much.

We did 50's Primetime and loved it. It was great fun. I don't recall anyone being singled out. Very enjoyable. We're going there again next trip.

We did Sci-Fi also which was fun, but we just got burgers. I wasn't overly impressed by the food, but sitting in the cars was fun.

Enjoy!

hi, last year we ate at Prime time and loved it. Other then DD's friend being reminded to remove her elbows from the table, we didn't get "picked on". Others around us did but then they kept "forgetting". DH also doesn't like the spot-light. (well, none of us do. lol ) But our DS- 10 has voted to go back again this year. Mainly i think because the desserts are on a viewfinder.
Two years ago at Christmas we ate at Mama Melrosa's and were very disappointed. We love Italian food, but were very dissapointed. There was very little selection. THe kids all ordered mini pizzas. They were awful. Cracker like crust with very little cheese and sauce. DH got a tuna fillet that was very small. I ordered a plate of italian sausage. There was plenty of that, but i couldn't eat all of it as it was extremely spicy hot. And there was nothing to go with it. Just sausage with a little bit of sauce. The server was nice and the cherry coke delicious. But that was about all. We will never eat there again. Also the prices were ridiculous in our opinion for the amount of food we received.

I would definitely pick Prime-time. We are debating between prime time again this year or trying out sci-fi for something different.

Hoping to help you out here...I have only been to Sci-Fi and we loved it. I went with my DH and kids on our first trip to WDW. We thought the food was fine--the atmosphere is what you go for though! ;)

This trip with my mom, we are going to do Sci-Fi for a dessert only. We are going to Mama Melrose for our Fantasmic dinner. The menu for 50's Prime Time looks good--I'm just not sure my mom will like the interactive!

We thought Sci-Fi was average at best and the seats in the car are very cramped. :crowded: 50's Prime Time OTOH was wonderful!! It is now one of our new must do's on every trip. Food was fantastic, service fun. Definately try this one!

Dh and I have done Sci-fi twice and we loved it both times. :goodvibes The food was very good. I know some have been disappointed but not the case with our meals there. We haven't done the others so I can't compare them.

funny i was about to post the same question!!! 50's primetime menu appeals to us but again, like some of the other posters, we would not care to be in the spotlight. Also, ds is pretty sensitive-could take something the wrong way! Is there any way of telling cm that you don;t want to be a part of the action? ;) If so, this may be our mgm dining. Does anyone know how hollywood and vine is?

Eaten at all three and I like Mama Melrose's, have eaten there three times. I found 50's to be fun, but I thought the food was awful, Sci-Fi fun and different, food okay. I personally would eat somewhere else, I have no ADR in MGM for my Feb trip.

I really liked the ambiance at Sci-Fi. I have never been to Prime Time, but would like to try it next time. :)

We did Prime time last September and loved it. :thumbsup2 No one was embarrasssed and the food was really good.We are returning in October.

I'm not sure that I will be a big help but I love Sci-Fi. But I haven't tried the other places you are considering. But the atmosphere at Sci-Fi is so unique. I loved it. The food and service was good as well.

Prime Time and Sci-Fi are both fun. My hubby doesn't like being "picked on" either, but he's OK with the Prime Time. Last time, he got a call on his cell phone, and our server gave him a funny look and said, "He's talking on a walkie-talkie." She was also quiet when the call took awhile, which was nice.

We went to Sci-Fi in 2004, and liked it, except our kids HATED the green beans. But, they had a cheesecake dessert that was WONDERFUL!

Haven't been to Mama Melrose's.

Have fun!!!!!

Anita

Thanks for all our info. We went with the majority and choose Prime Time. We do not leave until May but I will give a food report when we get back.

For lunch I would go to Sci Fi, it is a fun place, and is great on a hot day...
For dinner Mama Melrose, we have been there for both lunch and dinner and really enjoyed it, we thought that the food was better than Alfredo's and at a much lower cost.
We did Prime Time once and enjoyed it, but I do not have a great desire to go back.

I ate at Prime Time in '99 with some friends. The atmosphere was fun, but the food was so bad that I haven't been back.

In Sep '05 my husband and I ate at SciFi. Again, fun atmosphere, but the food wasn't very good. He had a chocolate shake that was yummy.

Also in Sep '05 we ate at Mama Melrose's with our families (on our wedding trip). The food and service were incredible. It was one of everyone's favorite meals. I had the pasta with vodka and it was amazing. We had an adr and still had to wait a while, and they were turning walk-ins away. It was a Sunday night and they were very busy. I think it might have been an emh night.

The only complaint anyone had about MM was about the salad. Some people ordered the Caesar salad and they brought out a head of Romaine lettuce that they had to cut up themselves. We're all "dig in" kind of people and don't like to work for our food. :teeth: The same thing with the salad happened at Wolfgang Pucks in DTD.

I've eaten at all 3 and I'd pick 50's Prime Time hands down.

Sci-fi was fine. The cars are neat so we will go again someday so DH can experience it.

MM was ok. My family wasn't impressed.
