What do you think of this plan...?

I am doing an add-on since DH agreed it was a good 10-year Anniversary gift for me

I have struggled with where to add on...we own at OKW. I am afraid I'll never be able to stay at BWV (especially in SV) or BCV unless we own there, and as our kids get bigger, I think they would really enjoy those resorts. So, I have 2 options:

1. Buy an add-on at OKW to make it easier to manage points and ressies, and see where we can get in at the 7 month mark at BWV or BCV. We NEVER go in high season since we all hate crowds.

2. Buy an add-on at BWV or BCV and use the bank/borrow method so that every 3 years we could stay at one of these resorts, and/or rent our points, and/or have more points transferred in if we wanted to stay more often or in a larger villa.

We love OKW, but I don't want to stay there 100% of our trips for the next 36 years...I don't like SSR (grew up in Boston and SSR doesn't have that "vacation" feel I am looking for) and I am afraid that we may have to stay there if we ever want a different experience...HELP!

if you want BWV or BCV - then go for it....

I own at OKW (love it), VWl and BWV....

I can recommend BCV for that wonderful pool - plus it is the closest to Epcot. It also has gone up the most in price in the shortest amount of time.

BWV for the standard view.

I would get 60 points at BCV - enough for a studio in offseason.

or 50 at BWV - enough for a standard view studio in offseason (also 5 days Thanksgiving)

We own at OKW but recently did a 60 point add-on at VWL, just so I could have the 11 month advantage for early December. So far it's been easy to keep the points separated.

I think option #2 offers lots of possibilities. Managing points will not be hard if you get the same use year. We own at OKW and BWV and love having the 11 month window at 2 totally different resorts )OKW for cheap GVs and BWV for location). If you really want the option of BCV or BWV vacations, buy some points there. I can't see how it can help but get harder to book at the small non-home resorts as DVC grows.

Thanks everyone. I was also thinking that points at BWV and BCV seems to rent easier and for more $, and this may only increase as time goes on and there is more competition for these resorts. I am one who worries about the 7 month window once SSR is finished...It is a hard decision b/c we love the space and atmosphere at OKW, but I am trying to figure out things for down the road too.

In 1996, we started out with 150 points at OKW, which is our favorite resort. But when they stopped letting us pool hop, we added on to BCV. We have 56 points there, and do what you're thinking about.

Although frankly, we stayed there this year on our OKW points. We had no trouble getting a studio in May about four months out.
