What do you think of the Value resort, truthfully?

I just do not care for the values at all. I too feel like I am in a cheap HOJO's.
I like the moderates however, but do prefer my deluxes more.
I don't think the food courts at the values are all that great either.
I like the extra room at the sinks, the nicer accommodations decor, more drawer space, an actual closet, valet parking, and I feel like I get better treatment when cm's see that I am staying in a deluxe. But this is just my opinion.

DH and I stayed at ASMu for a long Memorial Day weekend 5 years ago, and hated the experience. We were in a building that was occupied by a group of high schoolers and they were noisy at all hours of the night, some were night owls and some were early risers. When they finally left, we had 1 good night's sleep out of the 4. We missed the cute amenities of the other resorts, like Disney Soap products, and to make matters worse the soap dispenser in the bath didn't work, it took 2 calls to get it straightened out.

We brought "honorary" nieces to ASMo 2 years ago, around the 4th of July. Because of the girls, we needed 2 rooms, and only All Stars was in our budget. We had rooms along the main walkway, and had a wonderful time. The girls enjoyed the extra touches like the popcorn lights and the food court made meals satisfying for everyone. Mousekeeping was wonderful, the stuffed friends one girl brought with her were treated royally, even though none were of Disney lineage. Our favorite snapshots are by the larger than life outdoor props, especially the TV.

Much of our enjoyment the second time was seeing the resort through the eyes of our guests, who had never been to WDW. Everything was magic to them, and the pixie dust spread over us and made it a perfect experience. We spent our last day at Ft. Wilderness area, RC and on the speedy mouseboats. So we did have a satisfying nicer resort experience as well.

Bus transportation was fine both times.


My suggestion is to give the AS resorts a try.

You're going to get various responses about this topic, so in the long run the decision will have to be yours. For example, I've heard many people say the Nine Dragons restaurant in China was just awful, but I enjoyed everything about it, from my meal to the atmosphere. Others have said the food at San Angel Inn was true Mexican, not Tex-Mex as we're used to here in the United States....I hated my meal, but loved the atmosphere. So you see, opinions vary.

DH and I have only stayed on two resorts at Disney, The Shades of Green, considered a Deluxe hotel and the Allstar Music Resort. We enjoyed both of them equally as well. The food court had a great selection of many foods and the price was just right. I never felt packed in like sardines on the busses. As a matter of fact many times I was offered a seat each time I had to stand. Many nights DH and I would wait until 4 or 5 Allstar buses had gone by before leaving whatever park we were in. We just weren't in any hurry to get back to the hotel. It wasn't going anywhere!

As far as our room, it was just fine! We were on the parking lot side and noise from the pool behind us never bothered me. Didn't have to worry about a bunch of cheerleaders because of the time of year we visit. We're always there the 3rd and last week of May and some schools are out by then, so that's never a problem for us.

DH and I will stay at the Allstars again when we return in 2006, I love the theming and you can't beat the price. As a FL resident at the time of year we visit, I can knock about $40 a night off of our room. That's a savings of $200 that I can now use for food.

You'll have to decide for yourself if you want to give the Allstars a try. It's good to hear what everyone else says, but opinions vary so much.

We've stayed in All-Stars Music, Caribbean Beach, Dixie Landings, and Polynesian, as well as the Hotel Royal Plaza in Downtown Disney.

Of all of these places, we didn't much like the Caribbean Beach and really didn't like the All-Stars. Our dislike of the All-Stars was completely a matter of personal taste-- we found the colors and decor to be rather garish (others might think the same "vibrant," however). The rooms were very small and seemed cramped to us. The only dining option was a food court, which seemed to always be in a state of crowded chaos, with a lot of waiting in lines and then eating in a boisterous envirnoment. The pool was packed and not very relaxing.

We found Dixie Landings, the Polynesian, and Hotel Royal Plaza to have more relaxed decor, bigger rooms, better dining options, and a more serene envirnoment. Keep in mind that we are a couple in our 30's and 40's-- have no kids (although we like kids just fine). I could well see that food court dining, a pool full of other kids, and wild colors might well appeal to children and their parents.

Hope this helps others decide. I know many love the value resorts, but for us, we'd rather stay off property if looking to spend in that price range. To each his own, I guess...
