I am so stressed my mom and her husband just decided they want to come with, so I had to change all my tables from 6 to 8. Except for CRT which they of course don't have. Do u think we have too many Character meals. Should something be swapped out for something else. I have no clue.
I did only dinner to get more bang for my buck with the DDP.

Thur- Chef Mickey

Fri- CRT- Lunch only 6 of us though, should we cancel? Akershus- Dinner (My eight year olds Bday)

Sat- 50's

Sun-GG safari

Mon-Crystal palace

Tue- 1900

Wed-Garden Grill

Thur- nothing yet!

First, we never choose our meals as to getting the "most bang" for our buck. We pick the places that we like the food and have good service. We prefer breakfast at Chef Mickey's over dinner; we've never done dinner at Crystal Palace, but we like getting the first ADR at 8:05 a.m. so that we basically have Main Street to ourselves and get great pictures. We've never done CRT--our boys would not be caught dead eating in a castle with a princess. :rotfl2: I just read a really bad review of 1900. We haven't done Garden Grill since our boys were about 5 and 7 (they are now 20 and almost 23) so I don't recall anything about the food. Personally, we didn't care for the food at Akershus. You do have a LOT of character meals. I would switch at least one of them out and try something else--Biergarten in Germany at Epcot. Although it is a buffet, there is something for everyone to choose from and there is a band with a dance floor--great entertainment; or try Ohanas or Kona at the Polynesian--both get really good reviews.

The more bang for the buck just means that i paid $40 for the dining Plan and if u do breakfast it's $19 and dinner is $28-34. So if you use it on breakfast for $19 + $3 snack + $10 CS = $32, so I would be losing money. The dinning plan is a bad idea for adults but great for kids. Cost $12 which is at least the price for any character kids dinning. So I'm just trying to not loose money. So if I should do breakfast instead I will, I'll just pay out of pocket for it. I just need to know what to do.

If you want everyone to dine together, and can't get lunch at CRT, they do serve a very nice, non-Character table service lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern in the MK.

You are right. I wasn't thinking. We always have the free dining so I really don't pay attention to the cost. I'd still drop one of the character dinners...I think you will get tired of the typical "dinner buffet" food of the character meals.

Good luck. Oh, and I agree with the other poster--we loved Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch.

how do you get free dinning, never mind I'll just be sad. I took your advice and booked Crystal Palace at 8:05am and Beergarten for dinner the night we were going to CP. What else should we drop? Chef Mickey or Garden Grill? Is 50's ok or should we do Japanese or the steak house?- Thanks

Try to get The Hoop De Doo Review at Wilderness Lodge for Thursday. We went with my kids and grandkids this past fall and it was delicious and loads of fun. Even the boat ride back and forth was fun.

Chef Mickey's is so much fun, especially for the kids! The atmosphere makes it worth it and the foods not too bad either! Not a big fan of Garden Grill; however, haven't been there in a few years.

I was going to do HDD and another GG, then upgrade my plan to the 3 TS and 2S a day for $30 more a day per person. The total would be $860 for the 6 of us, I think. Which is what I just paid for my husband and I to go on a 7 night cruise with a lot of great food. So I'm trying to keep this in perspective. I want to do it all but I would also like to go somewhere else in Aug. Like Croatia. So I want to use my TS's wisely. We have 7 each. I love to do it all but I know I can't.- thanks

Free dining is a promotion that is usually offered around the second week of April for late August through mid/late September. We've done it the last three years. We already have it for this year because it was offered as a bounceback in our room.

I don't think you should dorp Chef Mickey--I think your kids will really like. We've not done 50's in a long time, but we always enjoyed it. The antics are fun (much better food wise and antic wise than Whispering Canyon in our opinion). We've never done the Japanese place and if you mean the steak house as in LeCellier--depending on when you are going that might be really hard to get. It is one of if not the most popular places to get an ADR.

Good luck.

You don't have to "spend" $40 each night to get a bang for the buck or not lose on the DP. If you spend $32 one day and $52 the next you are ahead. Assuming that you selected meals you want to have at WDW that's all the bang I'd need for my family. A big part of your family savings will be on the kid side. If you come close to BE on the adult side you will save $ on the DP.

Trying to seat a large group and limiting your meal times ie. only dinner will make what you want/need to do harder than it has to be. You can have TS breakfast, lunch or dinner. If you can get a seating for 8 at breakfast for CRT on your DD's 8th bday and have her grandma there, why not? I can tell you right now at 8 years old I wouldn't remember that mom got a "bang for her buck", but I will remember eating in the castle on my bday and that Mommy and grandma were there. Choose your bang

This wasn't to sound "preachy", but rather to tweek the math and give you a different lens to view your decision. Good luck and hope the stress is over soon. ;)
