What do you think of Celebration?

Hi -- My husband nor I have been to Celebration. Is it worth going? How far is it from the Disney resorts? It would be me, hubby and our 2 1/2 year old.

Thanks.

It is about a 10 minute drive from Property. Maybe 15 from MK resorts.

Do a drive through. Check out the downtown. Some like to visit the shops, or rock by the lake in the free rocking chairs.

Some like to tour a model home.

It is OK. Not much for your 2 1/2 year old to do! You can go through the model homes, walk through the town and eat at one of the restaurants. I believe there is a movie theatre there, too! I wouldn't really take time away from your other plans to do it, though!

Personally I don't really see what the big boopla is over Celebration. I found there was really NOTHING to do there. The "snow" at the holiday times were just a joke (soap suds flying out of the air---I guess being from Canada nothing is as authentic as the real thing, although the MGM "snow flakes" were a lot more real looking then these). Anyways I just didn't really find it all the interesting. I would still suggest you go, and form your own opinions.

It's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there!

We like it, anyway.

It's a pleasant way to pass an evening.

Eat at one of the restaurants (Cafe d'Antonio, Columbia or Market St Diner are favo(u)rites), wander about, sit by the lake, take in a film (oops, sorry movie!), coffee at Barnies. Call in at the Nike shop on 192 on the way back to WDW.

We always go to Celebration when we're over at our home.

We checked out Celebration this past summer. It is very close to WDW. We are looking to move out to central Florida sometime in the future, so we looked at the model homes there. The homes were very very expensive for what you get and I understand the homeowners dues are very high, also. There were hardly any yards to speak of there, either. Very lovely community all in all, but we scratched it off our list for an area to buy a home.

It's worth taking a look if you have the time, but don't go out of your way to get there. Have to agree with the comment about Stepford Wives though!

DH and I had lunch in Celebration on our 16 day trip in 2000. We planned several off-WDW days because of the length of this trip. (There was an Entertainment book lunch/dinner offer that year , which is what prompted our visit). No big deal....we drove around the streets of Celebration and took a short walk in the center of town. Just a town with houses pretty close together, and a small town center. Other than the movies or a meal not much else to do there. Although some people post that they think it's very expensive, the prices are comparable to metro NYC area homes.
