What do you sit on at WDW parades?

This is our first summer going to WDW without a stroller so I'm looking for something compact and light enough to throw in my baggellini messenger bag that's also budget friendly (cheap ). I saw the tip to get inflatable bath pillows from Dollar Tree on another thread and I like that, but I think 6 of them would take up too much room, there are 7 of us, but DD will carry her fanny pack.

I'm not looking for comfort as much as something to protect us from the hot cement, a small blanket or something disposable, I don't know.

I just sit on the ground. I can't imagine carrying around something extra. Might be different if I wore "short shorts" but I like longer length so bare skin on the ground isn't an issue for me.

One year after a rain shower we had to have something to sit on. At the time our youngest was a baby and so we had disposable changing table covers in our bag. Now we bring them all the time. They are cheap and light weight and come in a pack of about 8. We fold them back up and use them the next day in they are not wet or dirty. The ones we use are plastic on one side and soft fabric like paper on the other. Here is link that shows what I'm talking about. We get ours at Walmart.

I have seen on another post that someone buys the $1 table clothes and cuts them into squares for each of the family members to use separately or I guess that you could leave it all intact and sit on it all together- then after the parade they don't feel so bad throwing it out as it was only $1!

I like both of these ideas . If I decide to get disposable the tablecloth woud be cheaper, but if I can't find any at our Dollar Tree the changing pads are a good alternative. I knew someone on here would have a good idea for me

We went in June the year before last and when we went to the parade we couldn't sit on the cement, it burned even through our shorts. They were having a heat wave that year and temps were over 100 each day so maybe that was a factor, but I want to be prepared this year. Also we tend to wear more lightweight shorts in the heat, khakis for me and athletic shorts for the kids so they're thinner than denim.

That's what me, dh and our boys would like to do, but dd loves the shows and parades so we make sure we catch a couple just for her

Sit on your ponchos. I buy the cheapie ones (under a dollar a piece) because they fold up really small. I bring a whole bunch each trip so we can throw them out if they get ripped or yucky.

We do the same thing if the ground is wet, if not we usually just sit on the ground. I like the disposable changing pad idea for the summer since one side is a softer material and not plastic, which is great because sitting on plastic in the summer can be extra sweaty.

On the rare occasions that we have watched the parade, we stood up. Unless you are going to be sitting in a spot somewhere for a long time prior to the parade to save your spot, you'll be standing, too.

I always bring a neat sheet they are cheap washable waterproof and last year when it was so cold we sat under it instead of untop of it. It works great and marks our space so we don't hear is some one sitting there?

You're perceiving an insult where none was intended. I come from a culture where parades are a very strong community tradition, and in my culture it is customary to stand for the parade itself, thus it follows that I don't sit on anything.

I will grant that personally it puzzles me how anyone who has a choice about it could possibly prefer to sit on the ground whilst watching a parade. You miss a lot of detail from that perspective. (Also, it's generally safer to be on your feet, because if there is a crowd surge you are more likely to be hurt if you're seated.)

Okay, I'm sorry.

I do prefer to sit for the parades or at least to let my kids sit in front of me for the parade so people behind us can see and because I welcome the break to get off my feet for a few minutes.

We love to sit down in our favorite spot and have a snack while waiting for the parade. Once the parade arrives we may or may not stand up to get a better view depending on how many young persons are watching behind us.

I sit on rides during parades. My family uses parade time to walk on to the big rides. We just aren't parade people

Ok and just because someone sits for a parade does not mean they are disabled. They may just have tired feet or want to sit next to their children. Your response was kind of rude.
