What do you serve for breakfast at Christmas?

Just one year I'd like to try the oven french toast or egg casseroles I see here all the time and I'm sure that day will come but for now we'll stick to tradition:)

Since you only have the monkey bread cooking in the oven, I would make one of the casseroles along with your menu this year! You could even do a half-recipe and cook it in the toaster oven if you have one. I guarantee it will be on the menu every year afterwards if you choose wisely! :thumbsup2

we do cinnamon rolls (pillsbury) scrambled eggs, bacon, fruit salad, coffee and juice.

We have cream cheese, lox, bagels, baked salmon and some kind of cassarole on Christmas morning.

Could someone kindly post a recipe for Monkey Bread. I had saved one from these boards but our computer crashed last week and we've lost everything. It was one that you make the night before. It also needs to be made from scratch as I'm in Australia and don't have access to some of the ready made rolls etc that some of you use.

thanks heaps :worship:

This is the recipe I use. You could sustitute real bread dough if you don't have canned biscuit dough, but you would need to let it rise. You could probably put it together the night and just add the caramel mixture that morning too.

3 (10 ounce) pillsbury refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/2-1 cup margarine
1 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons water
1/2 cup walnuts or 1/2 cup pecans

Directions:Prep Time: 15 mins
Total Time: 42 mins

1. Preheat oven to 350° Place nuts onto bottom of greased bundt pan.
2. Quarter biscuits; roll in cinnamon and sugar that has been mixed together. 3. Place in pan.
4. Melt margarine, brown sugar and water; boil 2 minutes and pour over biscuits.
5. Bake for 25 minutes.

Pillsbury orange rolls, Rhodes sticky buns, and coffee while opening gifts, then breakfast tacos, bacon, and sliced mango for breakfast, though served closer to noon.

This year we are having cinnamon rolls from the Pioneer Woman web site. I made them yesterday (it make a lot) we ate some yesterday, I froze some for Christmas morning and I gave some away. They turned out really good.

Thanks so much for the ideas everyone!!! For the past 3 years we have made Pooh's Breakfast Lasagna (like the one from the Crystal Palace in WDW!!:lovestruc) which was tons of fun to eat, but it just got to be too time consuming (too much time in the kitchen, not enough time with the fam) so we wanted to try something yummy and easy this year......maybe we'll go back to Pooh's Breakfast Lasagna when we have kids!

I showed your ideas to my DF and I think we are going to pick up a quiche and fruit tray from Costco and possibly make the gingerbread waffles as well. :)

I usually do Monkey Bread, sausage balls and fruit. I have made my monkey bread from scratch but found a fabulous mix sold at Hallmark (and other stores) that makes my life easier and tastes so GOOD so I now use that!!!

This year I think I will change it up and lay out some good ol Bagels & Lox. I use to love going to Holiday brunches at local hotels just for that reason. I have not been to a brunch in years but sure would love some smoked salmon on a bagel!! I know people eat that all the time but in my mind I associate it with special occasion brunches :thumbsup2

I would also like to make some sort of egg casserole dish. I am thinking of doing a variation of tator tot casserole and subbing cooked bacon and egg for the usual mixture. Adding some saute'd bell peppers and onions and then covering with tator tots or hashbrowns and cheese. I think it might work...but will also check out some regular egg casserole recipes ;)

We will have alot of people this year at my parents' home for Christmas. I think my mom is making southwest egg casserole, orange cranberry scones and fruit salad. She'll also have bagels, amongst other stuff if people dont like or don't want the casserole.

We do frozen cinnamon rolls right away while opening gifts. My husband, son, my mom and step-dad. Then when my dad and his wife and my MIL and FIL come over a little later in the am I make 2 egg bakes. They both start with 3 cups of shredded frozen hash browns, one has a layer of Jimmy Dean sausage fried with onion, then a layer of cheddar cheese and pour 12 eggs mixed with a pinch of red peppers, black pepper, garlic powder and 3 cups of milk over the top and bake for approx 1 hour or until the middle sets. The second has the same hash browns, a layer of cheddar cheese and finally 12 eggs mixed with 2 cups of milk and slightly sauted onion and green pepper with cripsy bacon pieces.

I have fresh fruit on the side as well.
