What do you put in an over-the-door-organizer?

I've read a lot of people here bring an over-the-door organizer to the hotels, but what do you use them for? Are they particularly useful?

Thanks!

We did not use one last year while staying at POP, and didn't feel the need for one. There was plenty of counter space for us.

We use it for our toiletries. The one I have fits nicely on the clothes rack. With it usually being 4 of us we have a lot of stuff and it won't all fit on the counter. Plus, the mods don't all have counter space.

I no longer use it. I use large ziplocs with each persons name and essentials. I also throw out much of what I bring....I buy spare toothbrushes, ditch my make up (my bringing my oldest eyeliner and mascara) it just works better for us and lightens the load home...or I should say, allows me to "pack more stuff IN the suitcase for our trip home :cheer2:) Our suitcases went UP over 5 pounds each this year:rotfl2: There was some great sale stuff this year......

Each of us gets a row to use however they wish, then a few pockets with first aid supplies (moleskin is a must for blisters), one pocket for OTC medications, another for emergency sewing kit, change, well, LOTS of uses. Ours did not fit over the door, however, at POP. It did fit nicely on the clothes rack as PP said. I just like the look of a clear counter, plus it gives mousekeeping room to clean.

I tried this once and everything eventually ended up on the counters anyway. DH is one of those people who can't find his own ____ unless I point it out to him!

I love mine, I put my shampoo, hair conditioner, hair brushes, jewerely ( not real ) pens, high lighters, makeup soap, etc.... It works great for the cruises too. At least I"m not searching through drawers for stuff. Jo

first aid kit ( more than 50 trips to disney) i've yet to need the 1st aid kit but ya never know lol
small basic manicure set
stain stick
some of our tolietries tho I usually leave the shampoo an conditioners for everyone in the shower.

I got mine at theeverything a dollar store more than 10 yrs ago it's still goin strong.

I love using the over the door hanger, it frees up so much counter space. I put everything and anything in it (it has sooooo many pockets).
-First Aid kit
-laundry packets
-stain sticks
-ponchos (cheap ones from walmart)
-sun block (body and face)
-emergency sewing kit
-clips to hang wet swim suits
-water bottles
-batteries
I know theres more I just can't think of them right now. But basicly anything you bring along....goes in those pockets.

I also added small Dollar store baskets this trip. One was used to put our park things in once we get back to the room, that way it is right there for you when you leave in the morning for the park. The other was used on the counter by the sink to keep all brushes, combs, hair spray etc in there and organized.

we love ours...we give everyone a row and they put their toothbrushes, hairbrushes, makeup etc.. in their row... leaves the counters clean... I hate messy counters....

I love the idea of it so much I actually use one at home. It neatens things up so nicely.

We store bandaids, medicines, hair stuff, detergent, hats, bags-- basically anything we can fit in there. Sometimes even shoes. :lmao:

Same here! I didn't think we needed it on vacation because we each just throw our stuff back into our toiletry cases and put them on a shelf each morning.

But I adapted the idea at home. I was always searching through bathroom drawers looking for my DDs' hair stuff. I put a shoe organizer inside my coat closet by my front door. It's perfect, because I'm always trying to do their hair as we dash out the door anyway. :rotfl: It has pockets for brushes, combs, rubber bands, ribbons, etc. I clip barrettes onto the edges of the pockets so its easy to find a matching pair. The lower pockets hold mittens, sunglasses, sunscreen... basically anything we need on the way out of the house or need to dump when we walk in. I can honestly say it is the most organized area of my house!
