What do you pack in your carry-on bag?

We'll be leaving in 36 days for disney and I'm starting to get lists together as to what I need to pack. We have not flown in 2 years and I know there has been many changes with what you are allowed in your carry on. I used to carry my electronics, toiletries, snacks and drinks. We are renting a car so we won't need to wait for ME to deliver the luggage, But I was thinking about throwing a bathing suit for each of us and a change of clothes in case there is a problem with the luggage. Last year my ds traveled to Colorodo to stay with family they delivered his case 3 days later. Linda

You can still carry all of that except drinks which can be purchased after security. Your toiletries have to be 3.4oz or less and fit into a one quart zip lock bag, you can have one ziplock per person. You can also carry medicine in any quantity as long as you declare it to the TSA.

Here is a link to the TSA website I check it often close to a flight:

I would also check online with your airline to be sure your carryon suitcase meets the size restrictions as well.

Thank you for the info on the website, It does'nt say but can I have a bag in my carry on for each of us (4) or do each of us need a separate carry on bag? And it says you can bring some electronics but can I also carry all of that in one bag? And do they make everyone take their shoes off now? I was also going to take some laundry det. with me in my suitcase, I was going to put detergent powder in a small plastic cont. inside a plastic bag would that not be a good idea? I would'nt want them to think it was drugs or some kind of explosive thing. :scared1: Thanks, Linda

Actually it does say but.....

- you can have one zip lock (3-1-1) bag per person and they have to be placed on the x-ray to be scanned separate from your actual carry on so it dosen't matter where you pack it as long as you take it out for security.

You can carry your electronics however you like, in one bag or each carrying their own.

Yes, every member of the party will have to remove shoes and coats (including sweatshirts) so slip on shoes and zipper sweatshirts are how we fly.
Here is the page that addresses the screening process in a bit more detail - it may help:

I usually carry laundry detergent with me as well but I pack it in my checked bag. I don't see any reason why you can't carry it on if you like as its powder and the restrictions are on gels and liquids, its up to you.

Thanks for the help, sorry if I sound nitpicky but we're traveling with our ds who has a disability and has a hard time with lines and waiting long so I want the process to go smoothly which means I sometimes overthink things. :) Linda

I think that all of the airports have drug dogs behind the scenes these days; they will know the difference between drugs, explosives and laundry detergent.

As far as your toiletries, note that they need to be in their original packages 3oz or less, not in unlabeled bottles and not in a larger bottle half-full.

Don't forget to wear socks with your shoes; I personally get grossed out by the thought of going through security barefoot so always plan my footwear to be sock-friendly and easy to slip on and off!

Can I take snacks on the plane for dds (4 and 1)?
Just not drinks right- get them on the other side or on plane?
How about apple slices (prepackaged?)

Thanks!

I looked on the TSA website and it says you can bring 3 oz. of juice when traveling with young children. I don't think the food is a problem they are more concerned with liquids. Linda
