What do you pack for the parks?

Lots of the stuff already listed...but one thing I didn't happen to see that we brought with us this last time were some cooling towels. I don't know where my MIL bought them or how much she paid, but they're made of a foam-like material, you wet them and they stay somewhat "cool" all day. Helped the kids out during a recent hot trip.

Lowes or Home Depot I had gotten some for DH when he had a mowing job

ID, cash, magic band, a travel size thing of sunscreen for reapplying any spots that start looking pink...um, my phone, which has a Mophie case so no separate charge brick needed, um...yeah, that's about it. Maybe a water bottle if it's super hot and I want to keep water with me.

What great lists! Thanks for sharing! Since we are going in late August, will it be easy to get drinks from vendors so that we don't have to carry around four water bottles? My DH felt that a backpack would be hotter than wearing a waist pack. Thoughts?

My bag includes.....
- wallet
- sunglasses
- portable charger and cord
- tissues
- wet wipes
- small Johnson and Johnson medicine container with moleskin, band-aides, children's tylenol and claritin, Excedrin Migraine, Claritine D, Tums, Bonine, and Meclezine. FWIW, I carry this container in my purse on a daily basis
- water bottles
- paper schedule (yes, I am old-school. I know I can just check my MDX on my phone.... but I still need the paper schedule!)
- poncho
- small snacks
- extra hair bands
- lip balm

I make my hubby take turns carrying the bag. I make my daughter carry her own bag.

Snacks, snacks, snacks. I swear that just walking into the parks prompts an "I'm hungry!" from my son. Granola bars, string cheese, nuts, sandwiches, etc. Easy to pack, eat, and carry.

BTW: I purchased a small soft-sided backpack from Vera Bradley and it has been the perfect parks bag. Small, fits under the seats on rides easily, super light weight, and surprisingly holds a lot. I got it at a VB outlet on Black Friday, so a great deal overall.

When we travelled to Europe last summer, I got my son a small, black cross body bag. It was perfect! He couldn't lose it since it was cross body, it was small and easy for him, and just big enough to carry the essentials. Since it was plain black and small, it seemed "manly" enough for him. Ha! He will be taking it to WDW this trip. Got it at Columbia Outfitters outlet.

As little as possible. I use a small Sling bag and in it I carry IDs, external charger, sunscreen, small first aid kit with band aids, Advil, and neosporin, a small hairbrush with hair ties, iPhone and lip balm. Sometimes I remember to carry my debit card though I've never needed it thus far as magic bands have always worked.

Wet wipes, bandaids, ziplocs, portable phone charger and cord, Brita water bottles, towel, ponchos, sunscreen and layers if we go in December.

I thought we would buy water as we get thirsty.

FYI, you don't have to buy bottled water in the parks. Just ask for a free cup of ice water at any counter service restaurant. I like to carry a refillable water bottle, and just pour the ice water into the bottle. (It helps to carry a "wide mouth" bottle so you can pour both the water and ice cubes into the bottle.

hi, just wondering what sort of items folks bring into the parks? Sunscreen seems a given, but curious what else? My husband I plan to carry hip packs (either one or two), and our two DD are 8 and 7 years old. I thought we would buy water as we get thirsty and we do not plan to stay all day in the parks, but take a break after lunch.

Thanks!

I pack a back pack, it's just more comfortable for me and it's just me and DD (8)

  • Wet wipes (travel pack)
  • hand sanitizer
  • autograph book/markers
  • ponchos (weather/park dependent)
  • water bottle (not bottled water, a water bottle - we fill up at the water fountains)
  • water flavor (like the powdered stuff, but the liquid version)
  • bandaids
  • gallon-sized zip-lock bag (just in case)
  • Snacks
  • a pair of socks for DD (weather dependent -- she usually wear crocs and hates how they feel when they are wet, but is okay if she has socks on with them)
  • sweatshirt for each of us (weather dependent)
  • gift cards (souvenirs and food)
  • portable cell phone charger and charging cord
  • small laminated itinerary (I use a hole punch and make a small hole in the corner, then attach it to a circle from a key chain and then I hang it on a place inside my backpack that's intended to hang your keys on)
  • cell phone
I was thinking about trying to do a day or two that we aren't staying in the parks all day without the backpack at all...and then I look at this list and think...there's no way! lol

for me makeup bag, sunscreen, a cardigan or hoodie (I'm always freezing anytime we get indoors!), wallet, external/portable changer for phone, phone, mints and um... lady products if I need them.
