What do you order?

So, I absolutely love the dining thread... especially the photos!

I manage my own vacation rental here in Hawaii, and I'm always asked where to eat. I end up telling them where to go and what to eat, and the feedback has been stellar.

We all know about dole whips, and churros being the yummy snacks to grab at Disneyland/DCA...

but when you go and sit down at Carnation Cafe, or Ralph Brennan's, or Blue Bayou... what do you order? What are your favorite meals to get again and again?

I fly 3,000 miles to get a Monte Cristo from Cafe Orleans guys... I know I'm not alone on this one!

Oh, and it doesn't have to be just sit down places, if you love yourselves some skewers from Bengal BBQ tell me about it and which one!

My goal from this is to take in the number of suggestions, and GRIND my whole trip. I mean, I set aside like $1,800 in dining funds for me and the fam. Let's eat!

At Carnation Café we love the malts but do share they are too big for one person, the deep fried pickles and the baked potato soup...we then waddle out.

At Café Orleans love the gumbo and the pommes frites, the Monte cristo only if we can divide among three people ...way too rich. My kids love the fancy lemonades here and at Blue Bayou...pomegranate?

I am not sure if we have favs at Blue Bayou, mostly we go for the ambience.

Love corn dog Castle corn dogs with lots of mustard!

We Always have to hit Pooh Corner for a tigger tail to share

We enjoy Tortilla Jo's; the tableside guacamole the margaritas...real ones not the slushy ones.

We love the sourdough mickey heads from Boudin Bakery.

I did not know you could order starters here? Are there other options...what does the Gumbo set you back? Is it tiny ? I love the gumbo at Café Orleans so this would be a nice option

The Blue Bayou dues not have appetizers on the menu per se, but each entree comes with a starter. I think the choices are gumbo or salad or, for an additional fee, you can upgrade to shrimp cocktail.

fooey...I did not think I had seen that before...I would be content with a double gumbo as my entire meal.

You can order a margarita pitcher at Tortilla Jo's? Pretty sure we'll be dining there our first night in DTD now that I have his information. Yum!

You can I think like $45...I would be walkin rather crooked though...there are only two to share.. we will be going for happy hour on our downtown Disney day

For the last four trips my family has gone on, we have gone to Cafe Orleans and split an order pomme frites as well as a monte cristo sandwich. Usually there are three of us splitting this but last trip there was only two of us. WAY TOO MUCH FOOD FOR TOO PEOPLE. We carried around the doggy bag for the entire evening and couldn't eat anymore. Even put it in the hotel fridge that night and didn't finish it the rest of the trip. Amazing food but such large portions.

Also this trip was the first time we went to Carnation Cafe for dinner. It was really good food in an awesome location. I ordered the Sourdough Bacon Cheese Melt (which was AMAZING!!!) and my Dad ordered the Main Street Cheeseburger, which looked way better than a normal Disney Burger.

As well, we went to Carthay Circle Lounge for appetizers and drinks. We got Vietnamese Beef Taco's and Citrus Roasted Chicken Sandwich, which are both big enough for a full-on meal and were only $15-$20 each!

I have never eaten at table service at Disney, would it be seen as okay to go to only order pomme frites and Beignets and not an actual meal or would they even do them to go?

I did enjoy the monte cristo...we haven't gone often enough to have favorite meals yet, but you DID forget to mention my personal favorite snack that we get every time...Mickey beignets! I love them so much, and would rather eat those than churros or even a dole whip (which of course is good and we will eat those as well). I actually think the churros are incredibly overrated.

My meal at blue bayou last time (some kind of chicken?) was delicious. And Flo's kitchen was good...I had I think a roast beef sandwich? I'm also curious what other snacks/desserts not to miss that I might not have tried yet!

Some of my disneyland favorites include: beignets from the mint julep bar, a churro, a caramel apple on Main St, matterhorn macaroons, and the fried chicken at the plaza inn! I also love the chocolate caramel pretzel rods from the Winnie the Pooh shop in critter country but I recently read here on the dis they no longer have them? Not sure...

CO doesn't do to-go orders; you would have to be seated at a table, order your food, then ask for it to be boxed to go. Your bill would be for TS and you would need to tip the server, so I would make a reservation at a less crowded time and enjoy people watching while munching on the pommes frites and beignets. There shouldn't be any problem with that.

The menu at Carthay Circle changes, but I had the best pork chops I've ever had there a year ago December. I still crave them from time to time (and mine are not nearly as good). That same December, Carnation Cafe had cinnamon hot chocolate that was to die for as well (I'm sure that one is seasonal). At Cafe Orleans the vegetable ragout is delicious (and you can feel pretty good about eating it too). I get mine with salmon. Also, I've never had a bad sandwich at The Jolly Holiday (bonus - they can make them gluten free!). The Angus Roast Beef with caramelized onions was my favorite.

I think I'm going to print this and hand this list to my husband and tell my husband that's everything we're eating on our trip in August... Though he might get to have the baked potato soup to himself I'm not a potato fan.

your photos in the dining thread, are seriously appreciated! I was scrolling through earlier today (love the tie fighter picture btw). You've got a great list here. I've never eaten at Carthay Circle, but that lobster roll sounds incredible... can you only get that in the lounge?

Carnation Cafe: deep fried pickles, house salad and baked potato soup. My alternative meal is the deep fried pickles and-or house salad with the meatloaf.
Cafe Orleans: I was not impressed with this meal, thought the pomme frites were a bit overpowering. I've only been once though and have gone to all the other restaurants hundred of times so maybe I should give it another chance.
Rancho del Z: enchilada plate or enchilada, carne Asada plate. I also like the burrito but without onions!
Hungry Bear: cheeseburger with onion rings!
Wine country trattoria: loved the herb roasted chicken Alfredo and the bruschetta
My favorite snacks: Mickey Beignets, marshmallow wands, and my new favorite Minnie or Mickey Mouse caramel apples. They ar ove $10 but soooooooooo good.
