What do you like to buy??

Key chains, magnets, and tote bags are my favorites! You can never have too many bags laying around (although my DH would disagree)! They also sell the character shaped crayons which I thought were cheesy until my children opened them and would not put them down! My DH also likes to go into the huge candy shop while I have the kids occupied and buy all sorts of candy for the kids to eat and share with their friends once they get home.
I always look for anything "unusual" that you could not find back home or online, esp. this close to Christmas.

In 2003 we visited Disney Outlet Stores. On International Drive at Belz Factory Outlet Mall and on State Route 535 in the Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores. I found several marked-down Disney goods, my family and friends thinks that I spent a lot of money on them!

This might sound dumb, but I buy Mickey or Winnie the Poo pasta! I bring it home for myself and my friends. This last trip I even bought Micky Roni & Cheese. Inexpensive, but people love to get it! :earsboy:

I agree, anything really original is very popular. I bought the pasta, some chocolate too. I got some mints that come in a cute Mickey tin for like 3.00.

As for the soaps, I must of missed those.....I will definitely write that on my list for next time.

I think my personal favorite souvie from last trip was a long skinny pillow I got in world of disney store DTD. It is like an old fashion post card mostly blue (my favorite color) for $15. I got christmas ornaments $8-$12 bucks.

As for gifts they had lots of italian charms for $4 bucks. For gifts I got the mickey heads for birthstones in them. and put a little bag of chip n dale pretzels for $.79 in each bag. The boxes of 4 chocolate dipped mickey shaped rice crispy treats were $9 or box of chocolate dipped mickey shaped pretzels $9. I found Minnie magnets for $1.99, $1.99 kids disney coloring books, $4.99 baseball hats including Minnie at the outlets. Found Happiest Celebration mouse pads at Mousegears for $12. They were really cute.

I bought way too much stuff this time--but it's so hard not to. I got a Tinkerbell- Happiest Celebration on Earth 12x12 scrapbook in the Scrapbooking store in DTD and it was 32.00. I bought tons of the antenna toppers, but it's fun to see it every day I go to my car :) I love to buy picture frames to fill with our trip pics and display them. This year I bought Mickey ears for my friend and her children and had their names put on them. Out of everything I bought one of my favorites is a pillow that hangs on my bedroom door and says, I'd Rather be at Walt Disney World, with an embroidery of the castle--and I think it was only 10.00.
Hope this helps some :) And have a ton of fun--I think pictures are truly a wonderful souvenior too :)

Magnets are great and very cheap! Also, just sending friends and relatives some nice snapshots you took of your kids at Disney is always appreciated. They can put them on their frig with the magnets you get them. The food items are nice, I bought my coffee addict sister a Mickey tin with some coffee in it and that way she had the tin even after the coffee was gone. I gave my 21 year old nephew a box of the Mickey mac and cheese since that is still the main staple of his diet! Postcards are also a nice thing to give to people.

i like to buy the pins. i think the pins are just so cute and very easy to take home. i have four lanyards so far. each lanyard is from each trip.

My favorite purchases from last week are my Lady & Tramp S/P shakers & my new mouse pad.

I bought a 'Where Magic Lives WDW' mousepad and a Tinkerbelle dangly suction thingy that sits on my computer that I love. I'm a RN and in the $1.00 store (next to Pet Tails) at DTD I found some adorable stuffed Minnies wearing nurse's uniforms for my coworkers and also found a Stuffed Donald in a Fireman's outfit for my elder son, who is a fireman. They were really cheap--I think around $5.00 apiece. I have a friend who collects Eyore. I bought her a postcard with the Pooh characters all on it and when I went to Crystal palace had all of them sign the card for her. I then added a Eyore pen and key chain to it. For about $3.00 you can buy those rubber Mickey head bracelets (sortof like the Lance Armstrong live strong bracelets). I bought my GD some Stitch flip flops that were cute and a Stitch Trouble game. I usually buy magnets, mugs, charms, chocolate covered Mickey pretzels, Mickey Rice Crispy treats, pens, pencils, sticky notes. Oh yeah! Over at the Mercantile in the Wilderness Lodge I bought a little Disney totem pole that holds notes. The OP said something in her post about wanting a picture album that held 300 pictures. When I was down there in May I only found one that held three hundred pictures and it was the blue Happiest Celebration on Earth one. Surprisingly it cost the same as the ones that held 200 pictures--$25.00. Your son will have to have one of those spinning light up toys. They're $12.00-$14.00.

I agree with the earlier poster, don't worry about buying everyone at home something.
I agree with this, too. We've *always* brought something back for all the nieces and nephews. When they've gone, they've not brought anything for our ds. I've never expected total reciprocity, but I still feel bad for my ds because he notices that he's not thought of by his aunts and uncles.

From now on, I figure we'll buy for our kid and they can buy for theirs. ;)

I do usually try to find something for my mom for watching the house while we're gone, though. :teeth:

I got them in World of Disney (DTD). Unfortunately, I threw away my receipts after I finished my trip report. I don't think they were that much maybe $14.00? Worth every penny. There adorable on my dining room table.

Inexpensive gifts:
We get antenna toppers (less than $5 a piece) and we've gotten fuzzy Mickey-head dice for $6 for both of our cars - these are in heavy demand from our friends who have seen them so we'll stock up on them to give as gifts. The LEGO store at Downtown Disney has LEGO Minifig keychains (LEGO figure Star Wars characters, pirates, firemen) for around $5 each.

Inexpensive snacks:
Bags of candy (I prefer the Goofy sours or the trail mix-type bags) about $4 each. Figaro Fries at Pinocchio Village Haus in Magic Kingdom (fries served with baked potato fixin's) are about $5 - but we've heard Disney is going to change the menu and get rid of them fairly soon. Mickey Ice Cream Bars are always, always worth mentioning. Turkey legs look kinda gross but it's some of the best turkey you can taste. The World Showcase at EPCOT rocks - we usually will snack around the different countries.

I personally (not KAMommy, but GoofyDad869) like to get myself a ball cap for each visit for a keepsake. I love LEGOs so there's usually something at the Downtown Disney LEGO store for me. KAMommy gets herself an outfit or two, maybe some earrings. We love to read so books are usually lugged back home. Kids will get toys, candy, etc.

i really do think it's the thought that counts...people are just glad you thought of them( at least my friends and i are) funny but when were at VEro beach they kept leaving tons of the disney wrapped soap...every day a number of bars, lotion ect. much more than we used...maybe this isn't right but before we left i took some of the huge pile with me thinking i would buy a pencil or candy or something at Wdw and give it to the large number of kids i know( like 20-30 or so, way to many to buy gifts for). got home and my adult kids thought it was a dumb idea. i left the bag of soaps on the table and a little boy happened to come over ...guess what he loved.. i told him he could take as many bars as he wanted and you would have thought i had given him a BMW! so especially for little kids... a present is a present!

We always get a nice picture frame to bring back, then I go through the tons of photos we took and have one blown up to put in it. I love picture frames!

On our last trip, we collected magnets on everything we rode. This trip I'm looking into pin collecting.

We don't buy too many souveniers for ourselves or to bring home but my Mom often gives the kids some spending cash and we bring a thank-you home to her. Last year at Epcot in Japan we bought real nice Japanese fans which the woman behind the register personalized with our names in Japanese. I think these are terrific souveniers for about $8 or so? Also, my DD8 had a parasal (very small sized, probably 18" in diameter) personalized with her name one year. For her 7th birthday at WDW, we had a black and white caricature done in the lobby at POP and it says "Happy Birthday Princess" and "Alexandra at her Castle" with the year on it. This hangs on the wall in my office where I can look at it while Dising :flower:

I love it when someone brings me a Disney pen. I get a "cheap thrill" every time I write something!
