MY kids would love to stay there too.....and whenever we drive in and they see those hotels..they say "can we stay there sometime". I like the Epcot back entrance too. I love to go to Epcot at night and that would be really nice to just walk over there.

We are a family of 5 with three kids ages 15,11 and 6 so we would have to get the Dolphin because the rooms are a bit bigger and pay for a trundle. My parents are coming too..so we could just get adjoining rooms if they have them and just get two rooms and two kids could stay there.

hmmmmmmmmmm

so hard to decide

The Swan and Dolphin are both beautiful! For me, the best factor is the location. I love being within walking distance (or a relaxing boat ride) of both Epcot and MGM, as well as the Boardwalk area.

The grotto pool is really nice too. I've only stayed at the S/D one time apiece, but I hope to go back sometime soon. :sunny:

Good luck as you decide!

I am actually at the swan right now and stayed at the dolphin last year. They are great hotels and it is easy to access the parks and the boardwalk. For me, the best part is Starwood pts!

We love the Swan 2nd only to the Polynesian. We too have 3 ds so we need a family of 5 room. I feel the disney deluxes are just getting too expensive. The Swan is always my Plan B for value and lately its the best value for us. We are getting the great mousefest rate for Dec. 1-3 for $129 a night and you cant beat that. We like the swan because they are the lst bus stop, my ds love the grotto pool, beach volleyball, this time my ds is checking out the basketball courts, they like tubbies at the dolphin. We usually try for a govt. rate at the swan. This time we are bringing our own aero bed to save the $25 a night fee for the roll away. The only drawbacks are no charging back to the room and the refillable mug hassle. We solve that one by stocking up on soda at the hess mini mart before we check in. We love those heavenly beds etc. , turndown service.

luvmarypoppins,

Can you please let me in on the "refillable mug hassle"?

Have they discontinued the mugs? My daughter and I will be at the Dolphin 8/27 - 9/1 so I'd like to be prepared.

Thanks so much for the info :)

What I like about the Swan is the location above everything else. Considering the cost of rooms elsewhere at the Boardwalk, the Swan/Dolphin is a good value.

Other pros:
Beds are comfortable; oatmeal soap; large bathroom with sink and mirror; Additional sink outside of bathroom; closet with doors to hide our stuff so the room isn't messy; interior hallways; decor and design--I love Graves' work; very close to the nightlife of the Boardwalk; some rooms have views of Illuminations or Fantasmic.

Negatives:
No good quick food place at the Swan, must walk to Tubbies or the burger grill at the Dolphin; must walk to Tubbies from the Swan for a mug refill (at least you did in 5/03 when I stayed last); room charging privledges (I don't use, but if I liked it, would see as a neg.)

I love the Swan.

I love the Swan and Dolphin for so many reason it is hard to name them all! The grotto pool, heavenly beds, oatmeal soap, Epcot and MGM views, access to the Boardwalk and fab restaurants, just to name a few. Plus starwood points are earned during your stays. You can use the points for upgrades, etc. Happy planning!

We LOVE the Dolphin for many reasons but the great location near Epcot and the Boardwalk is the main one! The service, the beds, etc. are all great too.
Have a great time!

The Dolphin is our favorite WDW resort because of:
Heavenly Beds, Location, Great Service, Grotto Pool, Views, Value, Amenities, truly Deluxe Experience.

I don't know anything about a refillable mug hassle. Last summer we had a Swan/Dolphin refillable mug. You can get soda or STARBUCKS coffee in it. Tubbi's is open 24 hours, and you can get it refilled at the pool snack bars and maybe a couple of other places.

We love both the Swan and the Dolphin. They offer some great specials through this site and www.allearsnet.com.

I really dont know where all the other places are to get a refill, I was specifically speaking about going from the swan to tubbis for a drink refill, after a long and hot day in the parks even my 3 teen ds didnt want to trudge along looking for a place to get a mug refill, so we just head up to the room and stock up on ice and pop open our own soda etc.
