We are leaving in a few days, but today I got an e-mail invite for a DVC event at the Contemporary. I understand that it is a sales pitch, but it says there will be character interaction, refreshments, and prize give aways. I'm thinking it might be fun to check it out. Has anyone every done this before who can tell me more about it?

Thanks!

We are going to the one in Boston this weekend. I heard they are fun. We are already DVC members but we figure what the heck and decided to sign up.

I can let you know after what it was all about.

We are going to one in Boston too. I heard they are fun and have giveaways and a little dance party with Mickey and Minnie after the presentation.

I figure it's a bit of Disney while at home....even if it is a sales pitch :)

I wonder if anyone is bringing young children. We are trying to decide if we should send our 2 year old twins to their grandparents house or if we should bring them along.

The DVC things I've been to have been family friendly.

If this is the same type of thing -- we went to the AKV one in Aug of 07 -- it was A LOT of fun! Kid friendly for sure ::yes::

It was held in EPCOT by the International Gateway -- it was held in the afternoon --

There was a great DJ -- VERY interactive & fun -- had just about all the kids out on the 'dance floor' -- including my (at the time) 10 y/o very cool :cool2:boy

IIRC -- refreshments were frozen treats (not Mickey Heads ;)) but they were good fruit bars, a fruit type beverage -- I think you got tickets for perhaps an adult beverage (only 1), popcorn maybe.......

Characters were all over the place --- people did have to be lined up

Face painting

A very cool guy in a green/blue costume w/ bouncy-type stilts --- he did back flips & everything! (sorry goofy description)

DVC memember 'give-aways' -- I don't know what they were -- we were not DVC at the time.

I would certainly go again! We had a lot of fun ::yes::

When is the event? We'll be there in a few days, too! Is there a link for signing up?

We just got back from the event in Boston! We had a really good time. My DD went to the kids club where they had tons of adults watching the kids. They had board games, movies and actually had a seperate room for teh older and younger kids.
During the presentation, it was all about how everything works - points all the costs etc. They gave away some prizes for everyone and 1 person one a weeks vacation through RCI.
I am an exising member and was planning on adding on some points. It didn't seem really high pressured for anyone in there. But they did stress the "incentives" were only through this weekend because they were related tot he show in Boston.
There was also a dance Party!! Mickey and Minnie were dancing with the kids, and there had photo opts with Aladdin, Genie, Cinderella and the Fairy Godmother. It was nice since the event was kept small.
