What do you guys think of the Terrell Owens-Nicollette Sheridan incident?

My take is a little different on the pre-show. It was shown at 6:00pm here in Seattle and my DD 9 and I were getting ready to watch the game. I sat down to watch a football game not Desperate Housewives. I do watch Desperate Housewives and love it, but I don't watch it with my 9 year old DD. We had just had cable installed that day and I was still trying to figure out the remote because it was different from the old Satellite remote we had. When the pre-show started I could tell this wasn't something I wanted my DD to watch, I tried to change the station, but it didn't work because I was fumbling to figure out the remote. Looking back at it later it would have been pretty funny watching me fumble to turn it off, why I didn't just hit the "power" button I don't know??? Anyway my DD did see the entire clip and instead of watching the start of the game as I wanted to, I had a huge discussion with DD as to why she dropped the towel to show that man her private areas??? That was all she could focus on. In the mind of my 9 year old it was completely inappropriate and at the end of our conversation she asked "But Mom why did they show that for a football game???" The only thing I could come up with is sometimes people make bad decisions.

I sat down to watch a football game. If this was shown at 9:00 and my DD was in bed it would not have been an issue for me at all. As the parent I get to choose what she watches......If I can get the TV off in time...

Hallelujah! I actually agree with Joe on something!:earseek:

I thought the commercial was kind of hot, and not offensive at all!:smooth:

I thought it made NS appear to be one of the worst 'actresses' around. I would have been embarrassed by it if I were her.

As far as the content, innapropriate for the venue, not highly offensive, but inappropriate, IMHO. But hey, who cares... ambivalence seems to be the resounding theme anymore....

I think it was inappropriate for the time and the family audience. If they are going to do those kinds of adds, put a warning on the screen or do it later. All of the shows have those ratings shown, so I think TV should follow movie rules. Don't have a commercial or other airing that is more than the rating of the show.

Just my opinion.

Maybe they were just trying to help all those men with erectile dysfunction that must watch alot of football.

I swear I can't watch more than 20 minutes of a game without being bombarded with "4 hours is a rare side effect."

:p

Who would think that could ever happen? :smooth:

ROFL. They must watch a lot of NASCAR too because the same commercials are shown over and over during a race. Poor Mark Martin. Can you imagine having to drive the VIAGRA car?? I hope he got a bonus for that.

I didn't see the commercial, but I'm curious why so many say they were offended and consider it inappropriate for the show they tuned in to see, when all the ball games I've watched include those beer commercials with the half-naked twins. The innuendo on those commercials is the soon-to-be orgy that all guys are fantasizing about, so what's the difference?!

I about died laughing when I saw it, mostly because I love Desperate Housewives. Especially the line "Ugh, can you believe anyone watches this trash?!"

Given what I've seen on the soap operas when I've been home in the afternoon during the week, I think this ad was pretty tame in comparison.

I was going to make the same point!!

The mud-wrestling chicks, Twins, you name it, is fine but that one is over-the-top???

I personally thought it was entertaining. That said, it wasn't really appropriate for 6pm. It wasn't innuendo, it was clear what was about to happen. Its not the amount of nudity, it was the context.

Believe me, I'm far from being a prude about such things, but I also realize there's more to consider than my personal tastes.

I do think its being blown out of proportion just a bit.

At the same time, I believe ABC knew exactly what they were doing. I've caught at least half of the MNF openings this year, and this was the only one that I've seen that was a blatant cross-promotion for one of their other shows.

They also knew that some would get up in arms over it, and therefore get more publicity for their hottest (in more ways than one) show. This is a sweeps month, after all...

I'm sure they are banking on the spot being racy enough to get all this extra publicity, but not be so blatant as to get the FCC in a tizzy, and they probably have succeeded.

I didn't see it... but I wish I was T.O.!!!! ( well, just for the cool stuff! ).....and like dancing on the Dallas star!

Blase attitudes of shock make shock no longer shock. Sad, gradual, but always there nonetheless.
