I'm looking for Christmas gift ideas for my DH. Typically we just fill each others stockings--although larger presents have been known to show up. His big present is a new laptop computer which he needed and picked out. What surprises can I give him? I usually go with a book or two and food gifts. Any ideas?

DH's extras will include the They Call Me Babbabooey book (howard stern fan)

Pacific DVD set (he loved Band of Brothers so I am guessing he'll love this one - I would normally buy Blue ray- but he'll want to watch it on his computer during his commute- so dvd it is.

And I am buying a few of the smaller brewery 6 packs.

My DW hasn't asked me, but if she does, here would be my list (in only some order):
* New toiletry bag (mine has busted zippers and is a little small)
* Long sleeve T-shirts and/or UnderArmor Shirts or the like to wear when I'm working outside in the cold
* Generic black hoodie sweatshirt since I lost mine
* Can always use new jeans/slacks
* New holster for my multi-tool
* New multi-tool :) (but I'm picky, I'd need to select it)

If money wasn't as much of an issue:
* New lens(es) for my DSLR
* Netbook computer for when I travel (my work laptop is a 17" monster)
* New Camcorder (ours is 12 years old)
* Tools are always good

~DH plays street hockey so I got him a new helmet (doesn't sound that exciting but these things are like $200+ and I found one he liked on sale! Go me!)
~overnight trip to little place in NH (drive there, stay 1 night in jacuzzi suite, enjoy dinner/sleigh rides etc.)

~Bruins logo fleece pullover
~Bruins logo water bottle (for hockey practice)
~Bruins logo wine bottle stopper (he loves wine)
~Bruins logo beer bottle opener magnet
~Bruins hockey puck filled with sour candies
~Bruins logo leather wallet
~$40 gift card to local cd store because he refused to make me a list of cds he wanted...

I might also get a vintage arcade game marquee, since he is really into vintage arcade stuff. We'll see. Might not be able to make that happen in time. I think I overdid it with the Bruins stuff... :rolleyes1

I got my hubby a new watch gift cards to restaurant and for shoes also his big gift is the paper work I wrapped up for our next vacation he has no idea that i booked it. Can't wait till he opens it.

Mine is getting:

Crossfire by James Patterson
A Wii shooting game (can't remember the name right now)
Ohio State fleece
A pancake griddle that makes bug shaped pancakes, he's the pancake maker
A money clip, he's always complaining about taking his wallet places when all he needs is his ID and some cash.

In his stocking will be pancake mix and maple syrup! O, a few scratch off lottery tickets.

We are into the practical this year.

DH is getting a rechargeable Maglite flashlight. His was stolen and he misses it very much. :sad1:
He is also getting tools from Sears, a couple of undershirts for hunting, and junk food I won't let him normally eat.

My big gifts for dh this year are a ski jacket and a cell phone, both of which he needs so I am filling in with some wants and a few likes. They are a "date night" box with gift certificates to a couple local restaurants we've been wanting to try, and movie theater gift certificates. He's also getting an Xbox game, a political book, wool socks, hand warmers, favorite beef jerky, wasabi almonds, dark chocolate, razors and a ratchet set that gets out stripped or rusted ratchet heads (is that what they are called ) and a scratch off ticket.

I got him

- a ping pong table
- inception blu-ray
- I second the Pacific dvds :thumbsup2
- San Francisco Giants champs gear (yeah baby!)
- tools
- beer glasses (stella, hoegaarden)
- some clothes
- underwear
- a new pillow
- fat heads
- razor, toiletries

My hubby always picks out his gifts and I try to surprise him with something... This year I got him an air popper pop corn maker.... we eat tons of popcorn and I thought it was a great idea I hope he does too :) just think of things he likes or does and go with it

SO is getting tickets to see the Spurs (they are his fav team and they just so happen to be playing the Orlando Magic on Dec. 23rd and we just so happen to be going to Orlando for Xmas!).

Also Spurs related: a new Spurs hoodie, a Spurs long sleeve shirt, and a Spurs watch. He has Spurs clothing, but I thought these would be nice to suprise him with that he could put on when we get to the game, since it is a surprise.

He likes to study foreign languages, and has a particular brand of study material that he likes so I got him 4 language books.

He also likes the Kill Bill movies, so I got him both vol 1 and vol 2. Ugh, I can't stand these movies, but now maybe he won't need to watch them every time he catched them on FX or Spike or whatever channel it is that seems to play them once a week or so, and I can delete them off of the DVR.

He is also getting the Rage Against the Machine Collection of their 5 albums.

I may also order him (I have it in my Amazon shopping cart, but haven't finalized yet) a pond lighting kit. He has a little pet project pond that he has been working on for several months. It is really all coming together now that he stumbled upon (totally by chance) a rock/landscape company that was moving locations and was having a killer sale so they didn't have to move as much, and just recently got all the rocks/slate for the pond. He has been talking about a lighting kit, but they are fairly pricey (for what they are at least), but Amazon has them far less than the local home improvement places, so I might get that as well.

Then some standard stocking stuffer things like treats he likes to eat, etc.

His annual gift is Steelers playoff tickets.

He is also getting
jeans
dockers
Steeler sweatshirt
wii remote - kids idea! We only have 3 controllers and they want Daddy to have his own.

DH will be so surprised this year when he opens his golf GPS. He's wanted one for years but they were $400-$500. I got it on an Amazon Lightening Deal for $237!

Geesh these lists make me feel awful :/ We jointly gifted each other a new sofa, end tables, and a coffee table as ours was wayyyyy past due to be upgraded!!(the couch actually had stuffing coming out!) but as far as individual gifts I got him: new cologne, Ipod radio dock, and the kids wanted to get him a PS3 game..I still have no clue what to get to add to his stocking!! He isn't a big sports person and works in law enforcement so I would have no clue what to get him for work???

I love the idea of a date night box..definitely will have to keep that in mind for Valentine's Day

My big gift is an iPod nano - his broke when he left it in his pocket and I washed it - OOPS.
Small things - dress socks, charging station for phones (since I always find them lying all over the house), work gloves, new earphones, iTunes gift certificate.
Since my hubby's birthday is right after Christmas, I always get a double doozy. I think for birthday I'm getting him a Roku this year.

I got my husband a netbook. I bought it a while ago when I saw a great deal and spent much less than I thought I would. He's going to be thrilled!

we're also going to Vegas and that's our big gift to each other.

From our boys my DH is getting the Comedy Central William Shatner Roast DVD, a Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World book, and an Elvis DVD set. From me, so far he is getting a shirt - and if it shows up on time, a cardigan sweater (per his request - the new office he is in is cold). Other than that, I'm not sure what to get him, he bought himself a new lens for his camera last month, and last night he spent $200 on a new dual wireless router - in January he is going to Vegas with his buddy. Maybe I will ust wrap up the boxes for the stuff he's been buying for himself recently.... :confused3

I went a little crazy this year for him:

Steelers Jersey $110 (combined birthday and Christmas)
Sweater $33 at Kohl's that has the look of those Irish sweaters (he asked for this)
Valkyrie DVD $9 (he peeked in a box that I didn't put away yet and saw it

and all I really wanted was a Pampered chef ice cream scoop :rotfl2:

wow me and hubby decided that with funds low that we would not exchange gifts other then from the kids and stockings.
