What do you feel it will be like for us when WDW opens again using our mobility wheelchairs & scooters?

Hi, SW.

Thank you for finding the info on the Disney website.

I haven't checked recently.

I guess this rumor is now confirmed until Disney decides to change it...lol.

I'm happy to see that Pop & BWV will be open for my December trip.

Glad to help !

Glad your resorts are listed. At least, as you say, until Disney decides to change things. Well, more like, until the Universe changes things up again prompting Disney to make more changes.

Personally, I am awaiting the "alien invasion" and "asteroid strike", because it seems 2020 isn't anywhere near over yet... And "bad hurricane season" somehow seems to be a given. The "Sahara dust cloud" is already on its way. Mother Nature seems to be visiting an alternate universe this year.

SW

Thank you. That wasn't there this afternoon.

No problem. That seems to be their page where they are updating the resort list info.

Now, to add to the pot, I have read a RUMOR elsewhere this evening that Poly was listed but now (as of this evening) maybe not actually opening; but I checked the above link after reading that and Disney hasn't changed their list, so until they do I'm not believing the rumor, but will note that it is out there.

SW

Yeah, they have this disclaimer:
Please note that given the fluidity of the current environment, these dates are subject to change and Guests’ reservations could still be modified to other Disney Resort hotels if needed.

So I wouldn't consider any of it to be definite.

Post #131-WDW Reopening Transportation Rumors. Video & what I saw on the video typed out. - Provost Park Pass - June 21, 2020

Although the information in this vlogger's video has not been verified in writing by official Disney communication, I find some of the transportation social distancing information interesting and even plausible.

Universal Studios and Atlanta bus transportation systems seem to use some of the same types of transportation social distancing techniques.

Here is what I saw on the video.

The WDW monorail has a maximum capacity of about 300 guests per train car which might be lowered to 75 to 100 guests per train car because they are only going to allow one party or one family to enter per door entrance.

The WDW ferry boat from TTC to MK a maximum capacity of about 600 guests. And might be reduced to a maximum capacity of about 200 guests with a designated spot on the floor to stand per party or family.

The WDW Skyliner might allow one party per gondola

Previously, each Disney Skyliner gondola maximum capacity will be able to accommodate up to 10 guests maximum, with 5 guests sitting on each bench, including wheelchair capacity.

The WDW Bus Transportation from resorts to parks.

Each WDW Bus driver might be given 3 cloth face masks from costuming to wear or to buy own disposable face masks & glasses to wear

WDW Bus driver might wear a belt clip-on hand sanitizer

WDW Bus initial driver might do walk around & will do walk around each shift.

WDW Bus initial driver might use a no-touch sanitizing sprayer inside the bus

WDW Bus driver might each be given their own digital thermometer to use before work & when arriving at work another person will check again & be asked three health questionnaires.

Each WDW Bus might be divided into six zones with screened plastic partitions and might allow one party screened plastic partitions zones

Each WDW Bus usually has a maximum of 60-capacity.

Each WDW Bus might have a maximum of 25 Guests and possibly a maximum of four Guests per zone, but probably 6-18 Guests if only single Guests or if only couples each enter the WDW Bus consecutively.

Each WDW Bus might only allow one Mobility Vehicle per WDW Bus only in a middle zone per WDW Bus. (Depending on the WDW Bus configuration, usually, two Mobility Vehicle per WDW Bus were allowed.)

Each WDW Bus roof vents might be opened unless raining to improve ventilation & maybe the driver's window.

I think the WDW buses only have the heavy-duty roof emergency exits instead of the easy-open roof vents.

When WDW Bus stops at a resort or a park both doors might be left open 4-minutes to improve ventilation.

WDW Bus driver might sanitize their hands if helping a Guest.

Nothing was mentioned about the Friendship taxi boats in the video.

Walt Disney World Transportation - Watercraft
Encompassing the Magic Kingdom, Disney Springs, and Epcot resorts, Walt Disney World has one of the largest navies in the world. The Magic Kingdom, Disney Springs, and Epcot each have their own types of boats running various routes. Disney water transportation is by its very nature a bit slower than a bus/car. Still, it is unique and distinctly Disney. Just give yourself a bit of extra time when using it, sit back and enjoy your voyage.

Magic Kingdom:

Ferry Boats -

Two twin Magic Kingdom class ferries, the Richard F. Irvine and Admiral Joe Fowler, along with the Kingdom Queen class, General Joe Potter, transport guests daily between the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) and Magic Kingdom.

Ferry Boat to the Magic Kingdom

Operating hours

Open: The ferries typically begin operating 30-minutes prior to park opening including Extra Magic Hours. For example, if there are Morning Extra Magic Hours beginning at 8:00 a.m., ferries take their first trip from the TTC to MK at 7:30 a.m.

Closing: The ferries operate until 1.5-hours after park closing, including Extra Magic Hours.

Capacity and Schedule: The capacity of each ferryboat is 600 guests and 3 crew members. During opening and closing, all 3 ferries operate. During daytime and late night operation, 2 ferries operate with wait times between 10 and 20 minutes in most cases.

Disney Skyliner Transportation System

Gondola cabins can now be seen gliding above the treetops of the Walt Disney World Resort. Just like a magic carpet, Disney Skyliner soars above waterways and wooded areas alike on its way to theme parks and Disney resort hotels while guests are treated to views never before seen.
This “most magical flight on Earth” connects Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios to Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and the new Disney’s Riviera Resort, a Disney Vacation Club resort that will open December 16, 2019.
Nearly half of the approximately 300 Disney Skyliner cabins are wrapped in whimsical Disney scenes – with beloved characters, fan-favorite movies, attractions and more – giving the appearance that Disney pals are riding along with guests. The cabins are easy to spot overhead because each gondola will shimmer in one of eight vibrant colors and feature sleek curved lines.
The gondolas will have stations located at the International Gateway entrance of Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Pop Century, Art of Animation, and Disney's upcoming Riviera Resort with the hub located at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort.
“The design of the Disney Skyliner station at International Gateway at Epcot will be inspired by the park’s nearby European Pavilions and will be covered with metal and glass canopies, hand-painted murals and ornamental steel structures that harken back to the early 18th century Art Nouveau style. Guests traveling to Epcot via the Disney Skyliner will be welcomed to the park with a rare birds-eye view of World Showcase.”

Guests staying at Disney’s Riviera Resort will also have a new way to travel to Epcot or on to Disney’s Hollywood Studios via Disney Skyliner.
disneys-riviera-resort-gondola-station.jpg

“The Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort station will be the hub of activity for Disney Skyliner. This station is inspired by the open air village marketplaces of the Caribbean and will showcase the nearby resort’s architectural detailing and color schemes. At this station, passengers will be able to transfer gondola routes to reach their destination, or are invited to sit and admire the waterfront resort setting.”
disney-skyliner-station-cbr.jpg

“The design style of the station at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will fit with that of the park’s main entrance and bus stations. Passengers traveling here from the Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort station can expect a new aerial perspective of the park’s iconic attractions, like The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.”

“Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort will share a Disney Skyliner station that feels whimsical and contextual with both resorts. Here are some interesting photos of the presently closed MCO-Orlando International Airport of the DME- Disney Magical Express check-in areas with social distancing queue lines and added plexiglass at DME podiums.

Since they have not opened yet, DME could make changes before opening for business.

Post #134 & #135-Disney World’s Park Pass Reservation System Is Live! We Have All the Need-to-Know Details! - DFB Quincy Stanford - June 22, 2020

503202

Disney World’s theme parks will begin reopening July 11th.

Among other health measures, the reopening plan includes the use of a new guest reservations system for use in the theme parks. Disney shared a number of details about the Disney Park Pass theme park reservation system last week, and now the reservation system has officially rolled out online.

The Disney World website features some significant changes today when it comes to the way that guests plan their Disney trip. Next time you head to Disney, you’ll be visiting the Disney Park Pass page to make your theme park reservations. When we first logged in this morning, it appeared that the Disney website was experiencing some MAJOR technical difficulties — potentially due to high demand.

503206

Though the system is LIVE, quite a few readers are still having a hard time accessing the new system. You will likely be greeted with a countdown Space Mountain loading screen (that will possibly never actually count down to zero!), so be prepared to potentially wait for a while.

Reservations are made for a specific date, time, and park. You are limited to one park reservation per day, so it seems that the Park hopper service will not be in use at this time. You can see on the availability calendar that it shows “All Parks Available,” “Some Parks Available,” or “No Parks Available” for each date.

503210

When we did FINALLY get the new page to load (it took us a while and a lot of tries!), we were able to select “Make a Disney Park Pass Reservation” on the top right. We were prompted to log in to our My Disney Experience account (we were met with a much shorter wait to actually log in), then it was time to start making our reservations!

503212

First, you’ll select your party from your list of Family & Friends. Make sure to make profiles for other members of your family before making a reservation! If someone in your party does NOT have a profile, you can add them as a guest.

503214

Once you’ve got your party set up, you’ll be able to see a calendar for you to select your singular date.

503215

Then, it’s on to the park selection page! As a note, if a park is unavailable for the day you are making your reservation, it will be greyed out on this screen.

503216

What better park to start our days back in Disney than Magic Kingdom? The next screen had us selecting a window of time. The window was NOT limited though; at this time there was only one option and it was for the full park hours.

503217

Then, you’re pretty much done. All you have to do is review your choices and confirm. As announced, confirmation requires agreement to the terms and conditions, including Disney’s COVID-19 liability waiver.

503218

Once you confirm, you’re done!

503219

From there, you’ll see a screen that explains how to use your reservation when you arrive at the parks. Make sure to bring your MagicBand or card that’s linked to your My Disney Experience account. Once you feel comfortable with the info, you can either “Make Another Park Pass” or exit to “View My Plans.”

Post #134 & #135-Disney World’s Park Pass Reservation System Is Live! We Have All the Need-to-Know Details! - DFB Quincy Stanford - June 22, 2020

503220

If you choose to make additional Park Passes you’ll repeat the process above, including selecting the date, the park, agreeing to the waiver, and so on. Once we were IN the Park Pass system it was relatively smooth sailing, but it was a chore to get there! Hopefully as the initial rush dies down, this system will be easier to access.

As a reminder, there is a limit on reservationsfor Annual Passholders without a resort reservation and Passholders without a hotel reservation can’t access the system until June 26th. Note that while we were able to book with our Annual Passes for the length of our hotel stays, we’ve had a number of readers with resort stays AND Annual Passes report they were capped at three! If this happens we recommend you call Disney to get it sorted out.

Existing reservations can be canceled through this page as long as cancellations are made before the end of the day prior to the day of your reservation. Keep in mind that if you don’t show up for three reservations in 90 days, you’ll be unable to make reservations for 30 days after that.

Though the new system is relatively easy to navigate, it still might bring up some questions. If anything is confusing you, feel free to ask us and we’ll help if we can! If you find that you need direct help from Disney with your reservation, you can call Disney Website Support at (407) 939-4357. Keep in mind though, the lines may be busy so you might get stuck on hold for a while.

Remember that at this time, “To enter a park, both a park reservation and valid admission for the same park on the same date are required.” Annual Passholders without an already-booked Resort Hotel stay can make reservations beginning June 26th. Existing ticket holders can make reservations beginning June 28th.

It certainly will be interesting to see how the use of this new system plays out and if it goes off without a hitch once the parks reopen. Keep an eye on DFB for all the updates about the new reservations!

Post #136-Possible Changes to Walt Disney Monorail, Ferryboat & Bus Transportation During Reopening VIDEO - (I made a written outline from video below) - Provost Park Pass - Jun 15, 2020

When WDW Bus stops at a resort or a park both doors might be left open 4-minutes to improve ventilation.

WDW Bus driver might sanitize their hands if helping a Guest.

Nothing was mentioned about the Friendship taxi boats.

Here are a few general transportation information links from the DIS:

DIS link to Disney Monorail Information

Since 1991, the Walt Disney World Resort has operated a fleet of 12 Mark VI monorails. More than 30 years of research and development, started in the 50s, has brought the monorail technology to what we have today.

The Walt Disney World monorail system has been in continuous operation since 1971 with double beam track that circles the Seven Seas Lagoon in front of the Magic Kingdom. Originally, the monorail system connected the Contemporary and Polynesian hotels with the Magic Kingdom and Transportation and Ticket Center. In later years, the Grand Floridian was added to the loop. Disney expanded the monorail system in 1982 by adding a four-mile extension that travels from the Magic Kingdom resort area to Epcot's entrance.

The current model of monorail began operation in 1990, with the full fleet of 12 in service by early 1991. The Mark VI has a higher passenger capacity as well as improved air conditioning, door systems and improved safety features. Each Mark VI train consists of six cars. The overall length is 203 feet with a capacity of 365 passengers.

The track consists of 26 inch wide, pre-cast concrete beams supported by concrete columns which are approximately 50 feet apart. Each monorail travels on rubber tires and is powered by a 600 volt DC propulsion system which includes eight DC motors rated at 112 HP each, with the power emanating from each side of the beam.

The 13.6 mile monorail system will carry over 150,000 guests to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot parks on an average day

DIS link to Disney Ferryboat Information

Ferry Boats

During daytime and late-night operation, 2 ferries operate with wait times between 10 and 20 minutes in most cases.

DIS link to Disney Skyliner Gondola Information

Disney Skyliner guests can discover bird’s-eye views of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, including the Hollywood Tower Hotel. Approaches to Epcot are equally eye-catching, as the countries around World Showcase Lagoon come into view with iconic Spaceship Earth in the distance.

In addition to convenient theme park access, guests staying at Disney resort hotels accessible by Disney Skyliner will have quick-and-easy transportation to a world of other dining and entertainment options. These include all the fun of Disney’s BoardWalk entertainment district, access to Epcot through the International Gateway station, and restaurants and recreation found at the resort hotels serviced by Disney Skyliner.

The Disney Skyliner station located at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort will serve as the "Transportation & Ticket Center." From the Caribbean Beach Resort Skyliner station, you can take the line to Epcot via Disney’s Riviera Resort, you can take the line to Art of Animation/Pop Century Resort, or you can take the line to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. All lines originate at Caribbean Beach Resort’s station.

The Disney Skyliner cabins are accessible to guests in wheelchairs and ECVs as well. As you can see in the short video below, a Skyliner Cast Member will guide you into the gondola and once you're set, they will place chocks behind the wheels to keep your scooter or wheelchair in place during your flight.

Update on June 22, 2020 - see thread above for prediction from June 15, 2020.
An AllEars photo today of the inside a possible WDW social distancing bus.

On seat backs, I see the number two which might mean they might be Zone Two seating Area of Six possible Zones.

I also see the grey partitions that may separate the Possible Six Zones. I see one grey partition to her back and another grey partition to the left of the number two seats. I'm not sure, but I see more grey partitions further back. So this maybe two of twelve possible changes for the WDW Bus and WDW Bus Driver.

Post #138 & #139-What You NEED To Know About Taking Disney Buses Now That Disney World Is Reopened - PHOTOS - DFB Quincy - June 22, 2020

Disney World reopened select hotels today, so we’re taking a look at transportation!

503312

Disney World transportation is a complex system on its own. Add in capacity limits and health measures, and we want to make sure we know EVERYTHING there is to know about the reopened transportation! We took a few rides today to see how things are running — here’s what we found out.

What transportation options are available?
Typically, Disney offers several transportation options — boats, buses, Skyliner, and monorail. Today, most of those options are limited. When we arrived at the resorts this morning, we learned that the only mode of transportation available currently are the buses!

And even if you would like to take a bus somewhere, you are limited in terms of where you can actually travel! Today, the only bus routes available were between Disney Springs and each of the open resorts. If you want to travel from one resort to another, you would have to drive. You COULD also take a bus from one resort to Disney Springs, and then another bus from Disney Springs to the second resort. BUT it might take a while.

How is it different?
As we mentioned, there are capacity limits on transportation, but we also noticed some new health measures onboard as well as at the bus stops. While we waited for our bus to arrive, we noticed new hand sanitizer dispensers at our stop.

503313

Physical distancing floor markers were also present to help guests stay separated while they lined up for the buses.

503314

When our bus arrived, we noticed some pretty BIG differences once onboard! Disney has implemented a new seating system to ensure physical distancing of guests onboard the buses. When groups board, they are each assigned a “zone” to sit in. If you are traveling by yourself, you will get a whole zone to yourself. If your group is bigger than what one zone can accommodate, your group will get two zones.

503315

On our first bus ride of the day, we were the only ones on board so we didn’t get to see the zoned seating in action. However, on our second bus ride, there was an additional party with us.

503317

The bus driver directed the other party to enter through back door and to sit in zone 6, while we were directed to enter through the front door and sit in zone 1. The goal is to have as few people as possible entering through the same set of doors.

503318

Bus drivers are also wiping down surfaces on the bus after guests use them. There are also specific seats throughout the bus that are marked off as unavailable.

503319

Aside from the new seating zones, we also spotted partitions located between sections of the bus. These were spotted all up and down the bus!

503321

The bus riding experience at Disney World is definitely different than how we remember it! The new seating zones seem really interesting and we’ll have to check back in as the resorts get busier!

What was waiting for the bus like?
Of course, with those changes, we were wondering if it will take longer to get around. It was difficult to determine exactly when our bus would arrive, as the TV monitors were not on when we arrived to wait for our bus!

503322

And the bus took QUITE some time to arrive! We figured the buses would be operating at a reduced amount in this initial reopening phase, especially when you consider how FEW people we saw at the resorts!

Once we were on board, the ride itself was much like we were used to on Disney’s buses! At Disney Springs, the directory board that tells you which bus stop is for which hotel reflects only the resort hotels that are currently open.

The queue area for the buses at Disney Springs had similar physical distancing floor markers that we saw at our bus stop at the Contemporary.

We also spotted additional markers for an extended queue.

503325

When you reach the front of the queue, there are markers present to keep you at a safe distance from the bus.

503326

At this time, there is one queue being utilized. Guests with ECVs or wheelchairs wait in the same queue as other guests. When those parties with ECVs or wheelchairs near the front of the queue, there is a separate gate to exit through.

503327

Finally, we’ve noted that Disney World hotels are currently not appearing to require guests to submit to temperature checks, but Disney Springs DOES. When you exit the buses, all guests will be filtered through a temperature screening zone before they’re permitted to enter Disney Springs.

We definitely recommend budgeting ADDITIONAL time to get to where you need to go if you’re using Disney’s bus transportation system (even more time than you originally planned for!). Between the reduced capacity on the buses and new loading systems for the zones, this will certainly take some getting used to!
