Besides the big stores giving the 10th bag free. Remember the free one is of the smallest size bag you bought. So if you needed to by a small bag to get by, don't let them scan your card, or use two cards one for small bags and one for big bags.
Anycase.... petsupermarket sends me a 5$ coupon in an email once a month off purchase of 20$ or more.

So I spend about 25$ on a bag a food about every month or so. Kiani's only 35-40lbs so she doesn't eat as much. I've also notice I don't have to feed her as much as the cheaper stuff.

I feed her Merricks brand which is rate 5-stars on that review website. I've been really happy with it since it started showing up in petsupermarket stores. Originally it was one of the few treats she would eat. Then they came out with the canned foods, but I wasn't about to put her strickly on canned foods. I checked thier website and saw they had dry food as well, but it didn't show up in the stores for months later.
I had her on purina one, but with her long coat she needed something a bit better, and she kept getting UTI's, but I don't know if it was from the food or not. I haven't had any problems since putting her on Merricks. And I only spend about 25$ for a month's worth of food. She eats much cheaper than I do....

We were really poor and kept her on the purina, but now that we're poor again, I haven't found it to a problem to keep her on this food. I buy small bags when I need to and always use the 5$ coupon when I buy the 15lb bags. They sell the 50lb bags now, but I do better to buy two 15lb bags using a 5$ coupon on each.

I feed mine B.G. (Before Grain) Buffalo by Merrick. She has the prettiest and shiniest coat. It costs anywhere between $40-50 for their biggest bag but it usually lasts 3-4 months. My brother has a big dog that he started feeding Innova switching from lower cost food like Purina. At first he thought it would be more expensive but the vet told him that because, usually, more expensive dog food is more nutritionally complete, they don't have to eat as much of it as cheaper dog food. He's found that to be true.

We make our dog his food. We cook some rice and ground turkey or chop meat and mix it with rice and a little olive oil. We add raw carrot to it. He also gets other veggies and fruit, apple, banana, melon are his favorites.

He does get a little kibble to munch on during the day though.

I used to feed Ted Purina One, which was a higher end grocery store food that my vet actually said was a good quality food for a grocery store brand. Then we found out he was allergic to wheat, which is one of the primary ingredients in most dog foods, so we switched him to California Natural. Expensive, but a lot cheaper than taking him to the vet once a month for antibiotics, creams and such to treat the allergy rash.

We used to give our dogs Pedigree, but let's just say it wasn't very pleasant to be in the same room with them. We switched to Nutro Max and they have no more of those issues.

We feed Ruby Wellness- http://www.wellnesspetfood.com. Our vet recommended it. They sell it at Whole Foods and PetCo. She loves it!

We use wellness. You do use less than her old brand. Before I knew it she gained #10 because I was feeding her the same amount as the old brand. We have cut back and she is loosing it gradually.

We use Origens (I think that's how you spell it - might be Orijens). We used to use the "BARF" feeding (Bones and Raw Food) but it got expensive (I have two large dogs). This is cheaper and the dogs seem to do well on them - it has no grains, which is something I look for.

Thinking about feeding your dog Ol' Roy dog food? If so please think again. Ol' Roy dog food is probably the worst dog food on the market right now. I wouldn't feed Ol' Roy dog food to my worst enemies dog. Ol' Roy dog food and treats have been involved in numerous dog food recalls.

First five Ol' Roy dog food Ingredients:

1. Ground yellow corn
2. soybean meal
3. ground whole wheat
4. corn syrup
5. poultry fat

I have looked at the first five ingredients of a lot of dog food brands and I have come to the conclusion that this is the worst first five ingredients I have ever seen. First of the first ingredients of Ol' Roy dog food in CORN. Corn is pretty much useless as far as a nutrition stand point. Corn does your dog absolutely no good. If that wasn't bad enough lets go head and through some grains in the first five AND THEN lets through sugar in the first five. Who puts sugar in the first five ingredients of dog food? Are you kidding me?

A lot of people decide to buy Ol Roy dog food based on the fact that it is cheap. Thinking like this will catch up to you in vet bills. Your going to take your dog to the vet twice as much as you would if you fed your dog a healthier brand of food.

When looking for dog food, look for a brand that has at least two sources of meat in the first five ingredients, and contains no corn or grains.

Not necessarily. I've always fed my dogs with the lower priced dog food, Old Roy, Pedigree, Alpo, etc. They've only been into the vet for their yearly exams and shots. Like with people, it all depends on the dog.

Our yellow lab died eating Ol' Roy (back when there was that HUGE recall on Ol' Roy, the news got to us too late; most of the ingredients comes from overseas and aren't regulated). It's why I decided to really research the food and treats my dog I have now eats.

Just wanted to update!

I gave up trying to stick to a budget and went with Orijen Puppy. Pretty expensive but... hopefully it will make a difference in her health! The ingredients list looks awesome, so I hope it will be worth it.
