What do you do with your Maternity Clothes once the Bundle of Joy arrives?

:thumbsup2 As I near the end of my Pregnancy, I am starting to think about what to do with all my Maternity Clothes I have collected over the past few years. This time around was/is a summer pregnancy; compared to my first two that were Winter pregnancies... Now I am realizing that I have a ton or great Maternity Clothes to get rid of - some now and some later down the road. I know I will wear some of the stuff for a few weeks after baby#3 arrives, but then what?

I have spent some money on my Maternity wardrobe this time around; being that it was my first summer baby and had to buy a whole new closet full of stuff! Since they are so expensive, I would love to recoup some of my money somehow... :confused3 Has anyone ever sold their Maternity Clothes on Ebay and of so how did it go/ Did you do it by the piece, lot or outfit?

Thanks so much in advance - I am looking forward to the input and to start listing my stuff! :wizard:

How funny. I just dealt with this very issue this week. After 3 little girls, we have decided to hang up the baby making process. Like you, I bought lots of nice clothes this 3rd time around mainly because I hardly bought any the 2nd time.
I looked into selling my clothes as a "lot" on ebay, but noticed they weren't getting many bids due to the weight of shipping them (averaged around $40 for a pile of maternity clothes!). You could sell them individually I guess, I just didn't want to mess with that.
So, I happened to see an ad in a local baby magazine for a maternity consignment store in town and took everything I had in there and sold it to them! I got one check and now tons of free room in my closet. I would seriously recommend looking into that. It was certainly easier than going the ebay route.
Good luck with #3 by the way!

If they are good quality and in good shape they'll do very well individually on Ebay...

edited to add: But don't bother doing it until next February!

Hi!
After our little girl was born I sorted through my clothes and anything that was in good condition (no stains, tears, fading) I put up on eBay. Anything else I gave to goodwill! HTH! :goodvibes

Do you have any other family members that might be around your size that will be having babies anytime soon? I got some stuff from my sister that was still in great shape that Ive got lots of use out of. Dh and I might have another, but Im thinking this one wont be in the summer that Im going to head to my local consignment store once Im done and sell stuff there.

Funny that I see this today as I spent last night packing up much of mine! I am due with #3 and think that this will be our last :sad1:

I never spent a ton on maternity clothes since I wear a lab coat at work I didn't have to buy business things, etc and I had 2 good friends who were 'done' before me. So I am sending them off with a friend when she comes to visit after the baby in the hopes that her sister will use them. It's hard for me as far as sizes go since I am 5' 1" and many of my friends are 5'7" and up! Can't see selling things that were given to me so I will share the wealth!

DH was shocked to see me packing this stuff up since he knows I'd love a 4th baby but I assured him that if we got PG again I would just buy all NEW stuff! Then you would see it on eBay! :rotfl:

Why not til next february? :confused3 I am confused - did I miss sometheing in translation?

Sounds like I am not the only done with the baby making process! :thumbsup2 And being that I am the last in the family that will be having children, for a while a long time anyway, I will want to get rid of my clothes! Since all we had here in town was Motherhood, then GAP started to carry maternity and Motherhood went out, so they are of great quality and style! :smooth:

I spent far more money this time around than I did with the first two and it probably sounds selfish, but I would like to recoup some of my spending. There are many of the cloths that I will donate to the local church or bring into the consignment store.

I have many things that are barely used and maybe never even worn. Was preggers with DS#2 in winter and was given some Clothes from my mom for Christmas that just were not my style. :lmao:

I think I may go the Ebay route, even though my summer stuff will be out of season, folks are always going on vacation and I will be eager to have closet space back, just like a PP mentioned! :cheer2:

I'm going to guess she's saying February since you mentioned some were summer clothes and they won't sell as well now that summer's nearly over. By next early spring, moms to be will be paying out the nose for cute summer maternity clothes.
Although if you take her suggestion to sell your pieces one at a time, you could go ahead and put up your winter clothes soon! :thumbsup2

BTW

Congrats on your New Arrival!!

If family or friends are still planning on having babies I would see if they wanted them. If not, I'd give them to goodwill. Also my dd doesn't eat babyfood anymore so I bagged it up and took it to a food cupboard at my Mom's church. She has had some Moms that come in that can't afford baby food/formula or clothes. I still buy babyfood when I can and donate it. Lots of need people out there.

Thats what I figured after I posted.... I dont know if I want to hang onto all of that for another year though!!?? We'll see ....... :rolleyes1

Another idea is to find a shelter or youth home in the area that would be interested in the donation. They generally get a decent selection of clothing, but very little maternity.

Although, if any of it is for small, petite women, I'd be happy to talk to you... ;)

I donated mine. I can't see wasting all that time trying to sell them.

We are in a sdmall town - the closest thing would be the Church Thrift Shop/Recycling Center.

I wish I were small and petite, but I dont think 5'9" qualifies as petite. And these days I am not feeling so "small" :sad2:

Great idea though - I think I will bring a majority of the clothes there, but will also sell my best stuff! :surfweb:
