What do you do when your memory card fills up?

I'm not taking any chances on our cruise this coming Sept. I'll have a total of 4.0 GIGS of memory on 3 different CF cards. The price of high speed CF cards just dropped about 25 - 30% in the past week. I bought a 2.0 gig 80x Lexar Professional card today that will end up costing me ~ $80 after rebate :thumbsup2 That's what I paid for a 1 gig card just over a month ago :(

Of course, considering the fact that in the month I've owned my camera I've taken over 1200 photos, it's not hard to see why I'm stocking up on media.

We tend to just take more cards with us and we haven't filled them up yet. The flash cards are getting cheap enough that it doesn't really matter anymore.

We had several memory cards. But halfway through our trip, we went to, I think it was Walgreens, and developed our pictures and got a CD with it. Then we just erased the pictures on our memory card. It only cost us $140.00 to do this!!!! You gotta get them developed sometime.

Isn't it amazing? The price of memory is falling through the floor. I use all kinds for different electronic gadgets. I just picked up a 1gig SD for $29....of course....after rebate, which takes FOREVER by the way. Even Sony Pro Duo, which has always been higher, has been reduced.

$140 to develop? You should really invest in a photo printer. I have an HP Photosmart 475, and it is one of my favorite gadgets! The pictures are amazing quality and the printer itself is easily transportable, doesn't have to be hooked up to a computer, just an outlet, and it has 1.5GB of internal memory! If you like to develop your digital pictures, I highly suggest going to Best Buy and checking out some of the photo printers; it'll be much cheaper than developing in the long run! (My printer was about $199.99.)

I have the new Epson portable printer that burns photo CD's. It cost about $199. I took it with me Christmas Day and printed my pictures then burned my CD and dumped the card. It prints fabulous pictures and has a lot of special effects. It was great! I am taking it to Disney in March for the cheer competition. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Since I need to check in on work, I take my laptop with me and upload from my 2 @ 512mb SD cards each night when the wife is getting ready for bed or in the morning when she's in the shower.

Disney will now burn a disc from your memory cards. I posted the link below but I think it would be helpful to have an extra card. As other people have mentioned the price is very reasonable these days.

This is good to know, just in case you need it! I bring extra cards, but on our last trip to HHI one of my extra cards stopped working and I lost an entire day's worth of pictures! :sad1: In a pinch I would be glad to know there are places to burn your pics to a CD so you can wipe out your card and start over. It seems I take more and more pictures every time I go (and sometimes silly DH says, "Why don't you just use the pictures from our last trip in this scrapbook? They're all the same!" :rolleyes2 ).

You really think so? We have had a HP Photosmart 7960 for about the last 21 months or so. At the time we bought it, I thought it would be a good deal but now that retailers have dropped their "digital printing" prices so much, I think Wal-Mart is now cheaper for us (my cost of ink sure hasn't gone down by the same percentage!). By the time I pay for photo-quality ink cartridges and good photo paper, I think we come out ahead by going to Wal-Mart. If I'm only printing one or two photos, I use my photo printer at home (for the convenience) but if I'm printing hundreds or thousands of photos (and disneyfanfamily didn't say how many photos they had), Wal-Mart it is!

I noticed no one has mentioned this.

Heh, tried to do a URL but DIS wouldnt let me. Do a google for 20gb fotochute. Its a mini harddrive made for downloading your camera to. Has usb ports, and can hold waaay to many pics.

I got one from officed depot 3 weeks ago for 39.99+ tax after rebates. Bought if just for our WDW trip in April. :thumbsup2

These work awesome and I highly recommend. Even at full price its cheaper than multiple cards. :thumbsup2

if you have a car and go into Kississimi there is a huge wal-mart at the east end of Irlo Bronson rd it has several cd maker machines and every time we been there at least one assistant assigned to the machines to help travelers save there pictures, there is two kinds of cd machine one you leave your cd and memeory stick with them and return later or there is one you can stand and do yourself much cheaper and take empty memory card and full cd with you. this wal_mart is a superstore so you can pick food up while there and it has a big area of Disney t-shirts and goodies to bring home much cheaper then on dis property.

THis might sound silly but I did it the last time I went. I'm a lazy person by nature it seems, also cheap. I wasn't willing to buy an extra memory card (I'd only need it for my Disney trip and not for any other one really. So I asked friends. My uncle and one of my friends happen to use the same memory card. During the 10 days I went down they weren't going anywhere and couldn't see themselves needing it so they loaned it to me. When I got home I downloaded and deleted all the pics and then gave it back the day after I got back. They said they didn't even miss it. Plus alot of people have a smaller one that comes with their camera and a bigger one they bought themselves. So they kept their smaller one just in case they did end up wanting to take a pic. :) That's just my 2 cents

Hubby got one of those photo drives for me for Christmas, anyone have horror stories? I am scared to use it.

My bf brought his laptop with him on our last trip mainly for business but he also figured it would come in handy with the pictures. He downloaded all the pictures onto the computer at night so we would have room in the camera the next day. We ended up with over 400 pictures so he made us a DVD when we got home! :cool1:
