What do you typically do the night before you leave on vacation and how much sleep do you actually get. Are you so excited that you know your not sleeping a wink no matter what you do or how early you have to get up.

I'm curious to see how many people can really sleep the night prior to a vacation or trip.

Try to sleep. It doesn't always work though.

I really hate to admit this but I have to take 1/2 a xanax to sleep teh night before a WDW trip. I'm a mess & the next morning I dry heave before we leave. Charming I know. I can't funtion without sleep.

i try to sleep - usually doesn't work.

tricia.

I just try to that day off if a work day and lay around and Nap all day. That comercial fits us to a T always reminding DD to get to bed then I come in and can't sleep either

im like the little boy in the commercial Im too excited I cant sleep!!!!!!!!

I just take a tylenol sinus PM. I sleep fine and wake up ready to go. I always take off from work the day before and the day after a vacation to pack/unpack and use a checklist so I know I've got everything I need.

I am so pumped up and usually only get a few hours of sleep. I just want it to be morning and hit it.

I SO love our trips to Stone Mountain and Atlanta!! :woohoo: :cool1: I start packing a couple of weeks before. Since we leave so early in the AM to get in to Atlanta 5am, I'm usually in bed by 8:30 the night before. I sleep VERY well! Hard to get up at 4:30 in the morning, but once I'm up.....look out!! :yay: :yay:

"I'm too excited to sleep!"

I *try* to sleep, but I just can't. My mind goes around and around like the Teacups ride, thinking of a million little vacation details.

We go to bed early and *try* to sleep. Usually we don't, at least not soundly. On our last WDW trip (Dec. 2005), the night before we left, my husband and I had the following conversation at 3 a.m. We had the alarm set for 4 (we were driving and it's about a 10 hour trip).

Me: *sigh*

Hubby: You awake?

Me: Yeah. You?

Hubby: Yeah. Been awake for hours.

Me: What time is it?

Hubby: It's 3. *sigh* Wanna get up?

Me: Yeah. *stretch* Might as well go ahead and shower and get ready and go.

***HUGE CRASH OF THUNDER AND LIGHTENING!!!!!!!!!!***

Me: Crap. So much for the shower.

Hee hee. I got up and fiddle-farted around until the storm passed and took a quick shower. We were on the road about an hour earlier than planned. We still laugh about this conversation :)

We´re leaving tomorrow for DL and I can´t imagine I´ll get any sleep tonight. Got far too much laundry and packing to do. With a family of 6, that´s a LOT!

:cheer2: usually we'll be running around trying to do stuff till about midnight-this trip were taking a 6:45 am flight so it ought to be interesting....... :confused3 were staying overnight in a hotel close to the airport so we don't have to drive...at least that's the plan! :surfweb:

If we are leaving at 4am, then I'm getting no sleep because I'm to paranoid that I won't here my alarm clock and not get up in time.

If we are leaving later in the afternoon, then I sleep just fine :thumbsup2

What do I normally do the night before - pray that I didn't forget anything ;)

I am normally too excited to sleep as well. I ALWAYS, have plans on getting everything done early in the day, so then I think I will get the kids to bed early. But as it turns out, I never get EVERYTHING done like I want, so at night time Im running around like a chicken with my head cut off. ;)
We are going on a cruise in August, and flying in the day before. Our plane leaves at 5:50am, yep you read that right. We are pretty close to the airport. So Im going to try really hard to get A LOT done the days prior to this, so its not so hectic. :lmao:

I'm already jittery, and we don't leave for WDW till the 29th!!! :hyper: I know I'll be taking some OTC sleep pills for at least the first two nights of vacation.

Depends on if I have to work the day before the trip or not. If I do, I usually spend the evening doing laundry, cleaning the house, and packing. At about 10 or 11 PM, I'm exhausted but still take a sleeping pill. I can get to sleep okay, but if I don't take the pill I'll wake up a 2 AM and won't be able to get back to sleep.

If I don't have to work the day before, I do all that stuff durring the day, and spend the evening watching Disney movies to get me "in the mood'. Then I take a sleeping pill!

I do wake up a bit groggy from the pill the next morning, but they time I'm done taking a shower I'm usually alert and ready to go to the airport!

Our last few vacations have been cruises where we fly into FL a day early. I am usually so nervous that I never sleep the night before. I'm always worried about something and stressed out about leaving our kitty for a week or so. Eventhough our tenants take good care of her, it's not the same as us being there.

I worry that I have forgotten to pack something :confused3 and by the time I get to FL, I'm totally exhausted. Think I have OCD??? :lmao:

I always verify that I have my itenerary, tickets, clothes, shoes, pack and repack, and repack, print out duplicate items just in case. Sleep wise I'm the kid I'm to excited to sleep and will only sleep if I crash.

I am another one who is normally too excitied to sleep. Usually I will doze off on the plane and that some what makes up for the sleepless night.
