Hi, as the title says really. Our flight home is around 5pm and we are likely to be taking magical express back to the airport. I'm not really sure what to do with the time we do have that day. :goodvibes

first of all you won't have much time

you'll receive a note from DME requiring you to be at the stop roughly 4 hrs before your flight if you head straight for the uk without a us stop

you will also need to collect your belongings from bell services as you will have checked out before 11am

so you'll need to be at your hotel at say 12:30/12:45

you don't want to be late so if you do a park in the morning you'll need to head back to the hotel around 11:30am
that doesn't leave much time for a park
some might tell that it's a bit over cautious, but I wluldn't play with time, unless you're willing to risk a $60 cab rush to mco if you miss DME and can't be rebooked on the next bus

We usually do one last character breakfast in the morning and if there is time we spend the last of our snack credits on sweets and other snack items

a last visit to dtd is also on menu

you can go to the pool if you don't mind packing wet clothes
remember you won't have a room after 11am but there are showers and lockers at feature pools

I'd request a late check out and make the most of the night before!

This year we rode the monorail and hired a pontoon on seven seas to take in one last look at the castle.

As we always book the latest flight out (usually 7.30/8pm) we can and have a car its not going to be much help!

We get up and finish packing and send the luggage off to bell services for storage by about 9.30am. We then head to MK where we spend the day and have TS lunch leaving the park about 3.30/4pm.

We then head back to the resort and collect to the luggage and head for the airport about 5pm.

For a shorter day I would look at mini golf or something otherwise you will just be hanging around waiting for DME and that to me would feel like a waste :goodvibes

thanks all for your advice. I think with having to do the last minute packing, check out and store luggage etc it would be a bit too much to try and fit in a park too. Our last day is a Sunday and going on the hours for last August the MK had EMH every Saturday evening until 1am or 2am. I think staying out for park closing may be a great end to our park time. Not quite decided what we will do on the Sunday morning yet though. :goodvibes

Swimming is a good option - may tire the kids out a bit too so they sleep on the plane.

We were at Universal last time but I asked for a late check out at 12 noon. We had a lovely morning in the pool - lovely and quiet and made the most of the sun.The showered and changed and headed for a nice lunch before heading to the airport early afternoon.

i consider our last day to be the day before our flight, since on travel day, we get up late, eat a nice liesurely breakfast, check out at 11 and head for the airport.

on our last 'real' day (the day before the flight) we always go to the magic kingdom

We always go to MK on our last, morning, there for rope drop or EMH, breakfast at Crystal Palace. Like to eke out every last drop of Disney! Allow an hour to get back to your resort if using the buses, enjoy!

Usually check in at Dtd (but can't this time as not upper class of with virgin holidays) then hit a park and grab a pizza from the boardwalk to take to the airport

Haven't been yet, but hoping to get up, check out then head to DTD for an hour or two to spend those unused snack credits on sweets for the kids to take home to share with friends etc :). I can't recall our flight time (!) but as it's Sanford, we will probably need to leave a little earlier, although having said that, we are looking to book a private transfer to the airport so we won't have to make multiple stops etc on the way.

We go to DTD, visit Earl of Sandwich for lunch, one last wonder around before going to airport mid afternoon.

We've done all sorts of things, depending on where we were staying and what time our flight was home:

* Staying near Universal, last day in Universal with luggage hidden in boot and then driven straight up to airport around 5pm;

* Staying in Lake BV, taking advantage of free DTD check-in and then spending rest of day in MK, leaving at 4pm to drive to airport;

* Staying in villa then condo in Kissimmee, taking advantage of paid DTD check-in and then spending rest of day in MK, leaving at 4pm to drive to airport;

* Staying in condo in Kissimmee, using paid DTD and then spending middle of day leisurely browsing/shopping at Premium Outlets before heading to airport at 2pm for earlier flight home;

* Staying on site with a car from DCC, getting late check-out so I drop the car off and get ECV collected, spending last couple of hours just chilling at the resort and heading for Custom House at 2pm for collection by ME ridiculously early for 6pm flight home.

This coming year we'll have a car from the airport. We'll also have a 9pm flight home (yay) so will be dropping our bags off with the bell hop after check-out and spending our last day in a park (probably MK), returning to resort at 4pm, having the ECV collected, and then either getting early dinner at hotel or driving to airport and having dinner there.

The problem we had with using the ME was that we were the last pick-up and had to trudge right to the back of the bus. On arrival at Terminal 1, we were the only people getting off there and had to trudge from the back to get off again. They really should have ensured a few rows were kept clear at the front for us T1 people! By the time we'd done all the faffing around with loading our bags onto the bus and off again the other end, we weren't as ridiculously early as we thought we'd be. Still, we wouldn't really want to do it again as it really did waste our last day.

Yes I'm considering swimming as one of our options as knowing my girls I expect that will be one of the highlights of our trip. Not sure I want to have to pack the wet stuff though. :goodvibes

I think we'll feel too rushed trying to finish packing check out and doing a park but it sounds like you really make the most of every minute. :goodvibes

sounds good. We haven't quite worked out what to do about food yet but know we will need to eat something before the flight.

I do quite like the idea of last minute shopping but I also quite like the idea of swimming or having one last nice meal too - and you can't do everything.

Thanks for the information on ME. What a pain having to get past everyone on the bus getting on and off.

hi,

i think it will be DTD for us, with a visit to Disney Quest.
before we leave we always get sandwiches from EOS with the last of our QS credits to take with us to the airport, then spend the last of our dollars in the airport shops. mainly on Twizzlers and dunkin donuts :banana:
cal :)

We normally have a swim in the morning then grab a late lunch at DTD and now splitsville has opened our new tradition is to now go bowling :goodvibes

Now my girls would love bowling too... decisions, decisions :rotfl2:
