We are going to the World in July. Our flight arrives in Orlando at 9:30. We should arrive at ASMo around 11:30 after a grocery stop (we are using a town car). What do you do on your first day? We have UPH but we will have been up for a while because of our 6:30 am flight. I plan to take advantage of the EMH at the MK the next day so we won't want to stay out late. I don't want to waste the UPH but not sure what would be best. Any suggestions?
Thanks for any advice:)

Pam

We hit the MK for a few hours to go on a few of the rides as is takes a few days to do that park well. We always try to split the park in 1/2 and hit over 2 days or more. Then we had a reservation at Chef Mickeys had dinner and went back and crashed. Other years with regular park hoppers we hit Downtown Disney and Gatorland.

Go to Epcot and go the the France pavilion and get desert and coffee there at the bakery in the back and catch Illuminations.

We're not staying on site so this will probably be different as we don't want to use up a day of our hopper's on a few hours at the parks. we won't get to orlando until 2pm so we plan on settling in and going to downtown disney on our first night and hitting the parks the next day.

We hit the Disney adn Universal outlet stores firt day so we can get our cheap t-shirts and other souv. before we jit the parks.

On my trip a couple weeks back, we also had a 6am flight. We got to our hotel (Pop Century) probably around 11, checked in and luckily were able to go right to our room. First thing we did, which was absolutely necessary after waking up at 3:30, was eat lunch at the hotel (and buy our refillable mug). We then took a nap, walked around the hotel and made our way to Magic Kingdom, since that's what I had wanted to do first. We took it easy and didnt rush ourselves to tire ourselves out and stayed through the parade and fireworks, then went straight back to the hotel to sleep. :)

The UPH makes it so convenient, you dont have to feel guilty about going over to any of the parks for just a halfday.

Since our flight doesn't arrive at MCO until 5 p.m., we'll be picking up the rental car and heading directly to our hotel. After dinner at Baskervilles, we'll spend the first evening at DD.

I read about what you did and am thinking of doing pretty much the same thing. I was thinking of going to a sit down dinner somewhere in the kingdom or maybe one of the monorail resorts and just taking our time through the park for a couple of hours. It mght be nice to start off our trip with a character dinner. I was thinking of Libery Tree Tavern or 1900 Park Fare. We haven't done either of these yet . Or maybe Tony's Restaurant which is a favorite of mine. Does anyone have a suggestion for a restaurant for our first night? Thanks for the feedback everyone:D

Without a doubt, I would hit BOMA at the AKL for my first night at Disney!! :smooth: :p For me, it's a wonderful way to start my trip...a visit to a very beautiful lodge and dinner at a wonderful buffet.

We are arriving around 3pm on a saturday, picking up the rental car, settling into the hotel and then around 6pm heading over to DTD for dinner and Cirque Du Soleil at 9pm. WooHoo!!!:Pinkbounc

Last trip we did Chef Mickeys on our first night! FUN FUN FUN!

we dont have uph's we have ph's...so we're arriving on Sunday- sometime after lunch...(driving from Brunswick, GA, stopping in St. Augustine for shopping etc.)...

so I made PS's for chef mickeys for 6pm that night...that will give us plenty of time to get settled, and head over there for our DD's first interaction with the characters.

Our 1st day is spent at the hotel's pool followed by dinner at Chef Mickey's.
This yr it looks like our 2nd day is our night for MNSSHP so we'll have a "quiet" day -maybe take out the mouseboats from the Poly?, use the WL pool, walk over to Ft Wilderness, etc.

We usually check in...head to a park...grab lunch there and stay there until late afternoon. We usually come back and have a later dinner and hit the hot tub or pool and go to bed.

Soon as the bags are in the resort room, we take the shortest route to Pirates of the Caribbean!

Usually, we drive to Wal-Mart and grab a cooler and stock up on supplies (chips, sodas, breakfast bars, etc.). Then, we high tail it to WDW where we check into the hotel.

I am always the one who wants to head to the park, but DH and DS would rather hit the pool. So, I let them do that while I hop on the bus to DTD to do some browsing. Gets me in the spirit and I walk around on a cloud thinking "I'm at WDW!"! Then, I head back to the hotel and meet the boys. We hop in the car and head to the outlets to check out the goods, then go to Chef Mickey's for dinner. Afterwards, we hit DTD or hit the pool again.

By morning, we're well rested and ready for the parks.

Whatever you do, have fun doing it!

We go to our room to unpack and rest. We usually get in WDW around 8 to 9am. We go to Animal Kingdom first and Downtown Disney that evening. Everytime we have gotten there no matter how early, our rooms have been ready, which is VERY good.

This trip, we are flying in from the west coast and won't get to the airport in Orlando until 9:30 PM :scared1:
I'm not even going to think about what time that means we will finally be all warm and snug in our beds at AKL.:faint:
The game plan is to take the next day pretty slowly - lots of down time and just a short visit to MK (gotta go to MK first day - its tradition ... something about walking down Main Street) :happy1: :happy1: :happy1:

We officially kick off every vacation to Disney with a first night dinner show at HDDR. It just gets us in gear for a great vacation.

The HDDR is one thing I was thinking of too. My 4 yr old DD loved it last year and would like to go again. We could go to the 5:00 show and then back to the resort for an early night.
