what do you do if you're 2 points short?

we're planning 2 trips - the first is going to be at AK 2 bdrm savannah view.

we're saving this years points, using next years points and borrowing all but 14 points from the following year to cover it. this isn't the problem

the issues comes in our next trip.

1 bdrm Old Key West

we will bank the 14 points use the current year and borrow the following years points - this is an anniversary trip and of course happens in the middle of the summer during magic period (second highest)

i just looked at the points chart and realized we'd be 2 points short


will DVC let you pay the difference in cash?


other then cutting 1 day off the trip - what can we do?

I believe you can do a one time add on of up to 25 points for $15 per point. I believe Member Services can do this with you.

Purchasing the extra 2 points at $15/pt from DVC would be the easiest thing to do. When you do that, you are only able to book 7 months out. Another option would be to find someone who would transfer 2 points to you. You could cut your trip short by one day (boo!) or split the trip between two resorts or room types and stay in a studio for part of the trip.

Since you can't book until 7 months out I would book the trip minus one day with points at 11 months and then just move resorts or add the extra day at 7 though.

I think that you will have good luck at OKW. If you are making that reservation at 7 months, then you will have no problem buying the 2 points at that time.

I bought point last year at 15/point. I needed 6. They did the transaction when I booked the reservtion. It was quick and easy.
